Where to start. The only reason I even gave it one star is because the food isn't terrible and the owner is quite nice. I really don't think he realizes just how rude his servers are to the customers.
I am in a wheelchair and I have been to the Brooklin Pub a few times, as it is conveniently located just a couple minutes from my house. Having been there before, I already knew how terrible the parking lot was laid out as far as accessibility and how difficult it is for someone in a chair to even get to the door of the restaurant. Since I already knew that it is literally impossible for me to get in the restaurant on my own, today when I went, I made sure somebody was with me. While pulling up today we decided to park next to the patio because we noticed a small ramp leading to a gate on the patio, which would be a LOT easier to access than trying to get to their main door. We wanted to sit on the patio anyways, so we thought "perfect." Plus, we knew that if we were to go inside the restaurant, that there is no way of accessing the patio without going down a one foot step. However, after going through the gate to the patio, our waitress told us that we were not suppose to use that gate, that it is suppose to be locked, and that when we leave we would have to leave through the restaurant. When I asked her how I was suppose to get up the step into the restaurant, she rudely told me that my friends could help me. Thank God I'm not in a power wheelchair anymore, as it weighed 450lbs. She then went on to tell me that the entire restaurant is 100% wheelchair accessible. Lol. I'm not sure if she knows of a way for me to go up and down stairs by myself, but if she does, I would love for her to teach me. I have been in a chair for 11 yrs now and have yet to master that one. It was then when I realized that she was completely ignorant when it came to anything regarding wheelchairs or accessibility. So I decided to let it go. Our food ended up being ok and I probably would have decided not to write this review if that was all that had happened. However, when we got the bill we noticed we had been charged for an extra drink. So my friend went up to pay the bill and ask for the extra drink to be removed, and that's when our waitress said to him, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT HER PROBLEM IS. IT'S NOT MY FAULT SHE'S IN A WHEELCHAIR."
This was not my first time being disrespected by a server at this restaurant. I will definitely not...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant a more negative rating, I certainly would. My wife, toddler, and I visited for lunch and were thoroughly disappointed. My wife ordered a chicken Caesar wrap, which was astonishingly mishandled. It was greasy and excessively salty, upsetting my wife's stomach for the entire day. My toddler's chicken fingers and fries were similarly over-greased and over-salted, especially concerning for a children's meal. I ordered the jambalaya, which was entirely bland and lacking the expected flavor profile, a major letdown for such a dish.
Our appetizer, the spinach and artichoke dip, was equally disappointing. The pita was rock solid and tasteless, when it should have been soft and flavorful. The dip itself was overcooked and overheated, and the accompanying chips appeared to be low-quality store-bought.
Our experience was further marred by poor service. After being seated, we waited several minutes to order drinks and then were ignored for an extended period before ordering food. The server eventually apologized, citing a mix-up with the drinks. When the food finally arrived, we were asked if we needed anything else. I requested the hottest sauce in the kitchen, anticipating the jambalaya might be subpar, which it was. Despite my request, the waitress and what appeared to be a manager proceeded to visit other tables, clearly forgetting my request. When the manager finally approached, I reiterated my need for the sauce, mentioning that my food had gone cold in the interim. The manager offered to reheat the jambalaya, which I reluctantly accepted. Unfortunately, it returned burned. Out of sheer hunger, I ate it anyway.
The delays continued with receiving the bill. The manager provided a 15% discount, but it did little to alleviate our dissatisfaction. I paid begrudgingly and still left a tip, but this experience warrants a thorough review. We used to frequent this restaurant, but after this experience, we will not return. There are numerous other establishments offering better food and service. I do not recommend...
Read moreI’ve debated for 2 weeks whether I should post a review and I’ve realized that I simply had to because what we had experienced was unlike something I’ve ever experienced before. First off, we were a family of 7 adults that came in for dinner on a Sunday night. Not overally busy but still quite a few tables in the restaurant. Got told upon entry that they had no ice in the restaurant (???) so to order drinks accordingly. 6 of us ordered beer and 1 ordered a pop (she forgot about the no ice fiasco). Drinks came out in decent timing and we ordered dinner shortly after. Then our waitress went ghost, she didn’t come over until minutes before our meals came out, while 5/7 of us had had empty drinks for awhile. She then brought over 5 forks on a plate, stating that they “didn’t have any cutlery at the moment”. Now 3/7 of us are bartenders/servers in the restaurant industry and having “no cutlery” is honestly ridiculous. It takes less than 5 minutes to clean and polish cutlery and then wrap them with a napkin. But nonetheless we were just given 5 forks. Meals came out and we then had to ask for 2 additional forks (because there was 7 of us) and knives. We were then told again “they don’t have any cutlery.” I persisted that we needed forks and knives to eat our meals and she came out with 3 steak knives (we needed atleast 5) and 2 more dinky little dessert forks. At this point we just laughed and ate our meals, food was great, except for the fact they forgot 1 persons Caesar salad. We reminded her twice before a different server brought out the salad after everyone else had finished eating. Other than the service, the lack of ice and the lack of cutlery, we were quite pleased with the food and the...
