The Kabab Shoppe, with locations in Pickering, Whitby, and Oshawa serves up great tasting food with 100% Halal certified meats! I had the pleasure of dining with friends at the Whitby location. We feasted on so much flavourful food, and even had leftovers to take home. From appetizers to main courses, to a light dessert, it was all good! Our feast started with Samosas, Spring Rolls, Lentil Soup, and Falafel! That was soon followed by Butter Chicken, Paneer Mahkani, a couple of Chicken dishes (one with fries and the other with rice), fresh Naan, and a salad. My favourites, however, were still to come. The featured dishes, and my favourites of the meal, were the Kabuli Palau and Kabab Platter. Kabuli Palau is Afghanistan's National Dish, consisting of Lamb Shank on a bed of Rice, with Raisins, and Carrots. The flavour is savoury and slightly sweet with the raisins and carrots. The lamb was tender and very flavourful. The Kabab Platter had a variety of grilled meats on rice. It was all delicious, and more than enough to feed a family (or a group of hungry foodies)! Our wonderful meal ended with Gulab Jamun, a dessert that resembles a Timbit and is served in a sugary syrup. Delicious! We all enjoyed every bite! Thank you to The Kabab Shoppe for a wonderful meal!

We had a lovely dinner at The Kabob Shoppe in Whitby. The food was honestly delicious and very fresh. Last time I came here the food was a miss but I definitely see improvement. We got the 4 people platter and it came with 2 appetizers, naan and salad. One of appetizers we got was the Tandoori Tikka Fries. These were phenomenal good. The spring rolls were piping hot. The tikka meat was perfectly seasoned and juicy. I don’t like it when chicken tikkas are dry with overpowering spice. The chapli kabab and kofta kabab were also very yummy. We were 6 people and we still had food left over for 2 more people. 7 people can comfortably eat this platter. This was all $80 including tax not including drinks. Definitely worth the price. It also came with 2 large sized sauces (Garlic and Chuntny) which got devoured before I could take a picture 😅

Kabab Shoppe is a welcome addition to the limited choice of halal food options in Whitby. Their menu offers afghan style kababs and rice items. They have replaced the Subway Sandwiches which used to operate across from Enterprise. Seating is adequate for the size of the restaurant and I didn't have much difficulty finding parking. The restaurant is clean but the seating was a bit cramped. The Kabab Shoppe should focus a bit on their service. We found it a bit impersonal. We ordered their Kabuli rice, Chicken Fries and Platter 2 which includes Mantoo, Chaplee Kabab, Tandoori Kabab and Chicken Breast. The food was above average but there is room for improvement. The rice a d kababs were a bit bland. The platter is also a bit expensive for the quantity of food that's included.

For the past seven years, Kabob shoppe has been a reliable go-to for me, yet somehow I've never penned a review until now. This time, opting for takeout, I couldn't resist capturing some photos of their delectable offerings.

Located in a casual and well-maintained setting, they specializes in fresh, tasty, and healthy Afghan cuisine. Each dish exudes authenticity and is served in generous portions at surprisingly low prices, making it not only a culinary delight but also a great value for money.

The menu boasts a range of traditional Afghan dishes that are prepared with care and attention to detail. From aromatic kebabs to flavorful rice dishes, every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods.

During my recent visit, I opted for tandoori chicken bowl, lamb shank kabuli pulav, butter chicken wrap, mix kabob platter and was delighted by the rich flavors and satisfying portions. The food was packed neatly for takeout, ensuring it remained hot and fresh until I got home.

In terms of pricing, theyoffers excellent value without compromising on taste or portion sizes. It's refreshing to find a place where you can enjoy authentic Afghan cuisine without breaking the bank.

Overall, the kabob shoppe continues to impress with its consistent quality, friendly service, and affordable pricing. Whether dining in or opting for takeout like I did, you can't go wrong with a meal from here. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend stopping by to experience a taste of Afghanistan right in the heart of whitby.

This restaurant is probably the #1 place I order from. I enjoyed their food & it was reliable. I’ve introduced this restaurant to many, many people.

However, on a recent outing with friends, my opinion of this restaurant was completely shattered. A friend had found a thick, black hair mixed in with the chicken. The rest of us immediately lost our appetites. We weren’t sure if we should bring it up to the management as we didn’t want to create a fuss.

Eventually, we all agreed we should inform the staff as we had only just started eating and we had decided to abandon our meals out of disgust.

When the owner was informed (an older gentleman), he immediately was angry. He said we were playing tricks to get a free meal (mind you, none of us have thick, black hair, and I am a regular patron of the restaurant).

He offered to remake our plates plus give us a tour of the kitchen to “prove” cleanliness. We argued that we are not contesting cleanliness, but a hair in food is very off-putting and we had lost our appetites.

He continued his aggression and threw cash from the till at us as we exited. He told us we were not welcome back (as if we were ever going to be returning).

This was a very upsetting situation. Especially as a regular customer, I am appalled at the owners behaviour. I’m now thinking of all the times I ate the food and unknowingly consumed hair.

I strongly urge those reading this review to be careful when ordering at this restaurant because if there are any issues with your food, the management will NOT take responsibility...

I was introduced to Kebab Shoppe by a few friends and had enjoyed their food on several occasions. However, during my most recent visit, we had a terrible experience that completely changed my opinion.

While eating, my friend found a hair in her food. When we brought this to the owner’s attention, instead of acknowledging the issue, he repeatedly claimed he couldn’t see the hair. He did offer to remake the bowl, but understandably, my friend declined — who would want to eat at the same place after finding a hair in their food?

When she asked for a refund (since we had only taken two bites), the situation escalated. Instead of a sincere apology, the owner became aggressive and defensive. He insisted no one had complained all day and invited us to inspect his kitchen to prove its cleanliness. He then accused us of trying to scam him for money, dropped two $20 bills, and, as we were leaving, threw another $20 bill at us.

This behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. A simple apology and refund would have resolved the situation with grace and class, but the owner’s reaction turned a manageable mistake into an unpleasant confrontation.

A younger cashier, on the other hand, acknowledged the hair after inspecting the food — which further underscored how dismissive and gaslighting the owner’s behavior was.

Customer service is just as important as food quality, and in this case, both were lacking. I cannot recommend a place that treats...
