I came here with my fiance on Friday night around 6pm. We sat and waited for our food for almost 75 minutes. At 7:20pm I had to go ask the lady to just give us our food to go because we didnt have time to wait any longer, we had somewhere to be at 8pm. We thought 2 hours was enough time to eat dinner and drive 5 minutes down the street but we were wrong. We finally got our food around 740pm and immediately left. We had to leave our dinner in our car till 11pm that night and we ate it when we got home. The whole time we sat waiting for our food, we watched 8 Skip The Dishes orders leave the restaurant. The lady told me they had an employee that didnt show up for work and a new employee that obviously didnt know what he was doing, so the kitchen was very busy, but with only 2 people seemingly running the entire restaurant, the service was HORRIBLE. I truly have never had such an awful dine in experience. The staff was nice enough but we felt like we were basically ignored the whole time. A table that was already seated when we arrived and was also still waiting for food got up and left with us because they had waited so long.. When we finally got to eat our microwaved take out food at 11pm that night, the food was FANTASTIC. It's shameful that our food was a 10/10 but their service and attentiveness was an absolute 0/10. Obviously this place needs to hire more staff or put more focus on their dining room patrons instead of cranking out takeout orders all night, while the customers sitting in your restaurant suffer. I would order food from here through skip the dishes because the takeout is obviously priority, but I would honestly never again walk into...
Read moreBeing a person who was bought up eating indian food. I can say that this food was one of the worst I had in entire whitby area.
I ordered paneer makhani and naan. Lets talk about paneer makhani first- The gravy of paneer was just made at industrial scale. What I mean by that is - it clearly reflected the fact that same gravy was used for chicken gravy dish, other veg gravy etc.. and gravy was too tangy and I even had an upset stomach after eating that. Paneer makhani traditionally has a gravy on a creamy side (Made with fresh onion/Tomato) and this gravy was too liquid and consistency was way off. Paneer (cheese) pieces were too few and not at all soft as they should be. rather fried/refried paneer pieces used again, suggesting me that same paneer used for fried paneer dishes and is sprinkled in paneer makhani dish. And paneer also tasted stale.
Now lets talk about naan- 1st thing that any person with south asian origin would tell you- Naan is supposed to be made in tandoor (Clay oven) and is made from scratch with dough. This naan bread was like the one that you would buy in hurry from supermarket and throw in on a pan or in microwave and hope they come out ok. Sorry I could have got a packet from supermarket myself if I wanted such quality naan bread.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone…not even to people I hate.
There are other restaurants in Whitby area with better Indian food. Pl do your research before...
Read moreI love madras chicken curry, specially the flavour of coconut it! So I ordered the same, and here is the feedback- the taste of gravy was definitely nice, chicken was well cooked, portion was nice but costly at the same time (16$ yeah - other restaurants offer competitive price) - it serves 2 people I would for dinner and maybe you will see some left over for the next day. But the weird surprising thing was mustard seeds! Yeah, I mean who puts mustard seeds in madras chicken? It just felt like confusing - was I eating curry or was I eating Sambhar (idli sambhar- South Indian cuisine because that has mustard seeds). When I ordered from Uber eats I did read mustard but it was presumed in form of some paste or crushed , well it wasn’t ! So if you are a person who may not whole mustard in your madras chicken then this is not for you. But taste wise overall otherwise, you may like it!
I also ordered mango lassi, it was not how lassi is supposed to be - thick! It was very dilute and almost average. But because I was in mango mood, I was able to finish off! Not recommended as not...
