Tito Parley's is located beside an extremely popular doughnut shop in Whitby. The desserts at Tito Parley's are better in my opinion and, honestly deserve the real hype.
The star here is a product called a Silvana, a cross between a cookie and a mini cake. Decadent buttercream sandwiched between cashew meringue wafers. They're both light and luxuriously creamy.
It's tough for me to pick a favourite, although I never leave without one of the Ube flavoured silvanas. They have a few standards and some flavours that rotate. I usually cut them in quarters as they are rich (and it gives me a chance to sample a variety). It is recommended to freeze them, and, they last for quite a while in a sealed container.
They are only open three days a week, so, plan accordingly. The rest of the time they bake for the shop and I believe they prepare desserts for a couple of restaurants.
The folks in the shop are just awesome, they're friendly and love to chat about their product, food in general and always remember our son's slight silvana addiction...
They also make sans rival cakes but you need order ahead for those.
I recommend Tito Parley's...
ย ย ย Read moreI stopped by Tito Parley's because I was curious about "Filipino Frozen Desserts". I went in because it said they had Sans Rival (which I honestly didn't know fell under that category) and Sans Rival is one of my favorite things in life to eat.
Instead they had Silvanas, which I also found out later that it's the cookie/portable version of the Sans Rival.
Anyway, I got the Yema (custard) and Queso (cheese) flavours and after having the Yema one, I guess I will be going back for Silvanas from now on.
I can describe these particular Silvanas as the love child of an ice cream sandwich and French dacquoise. I have had Silvanas before but not as good as these. They're quite inventive with the flavours and I love that it's not too sweet but at the same time, they're quite rich and creamy. You can tell that they use quality ingredients and were made with care and love.
They're not the cheapest (but with inflation these days, it's hard to tell anymore) but definitely worth every bite.
It's a really nice departure from your usual snacks/donuts/cupcakes/desserts and will probably be the first ones gone in any office or...
ย ย ย Read moreTito Parley's has some of the tastiest flavours of silvanas out there. I often grab a few to keep in my freezer for the days that I am craving something chewy, crunchy and buttery. Their layer of French buttercream is slightly more than some of the other silvanas I've tried which is a good amount for me and makes this silvana a little less sweet which is perfect. Aside from looking aesthetically pleasing and being tasty, I can note that the consistency in quality has never changed even as they expanded their reach.
The silvanas come in their regular and mini sizes. There are limited flavours that come out for different occasions which are a must try. Silvanas can be ordered for pick up and also found at Auntie's Supply, Barkada and Tinuno. I've done both the pick up in the east end and gotten tinuno on uber eats. Both times the silvanas tasted fresh.
The owners do a great job of responding to messages as well as ensuring their product is of great quality. Highly recommend...
