Dock's Fish and Chips — Restaurant in White Rock

Just okay. We dined here and left disappointed in mostly the service. We ordered the Docks Combo which was: 1 pc of salmon, 1 cod and 1 halibut, fries, tartar sauce and coleslaw for $29.99. The fish was nicely cooked. The fries were large cut and seasoned. The coleslaw; it was a garnish and certainly not worth mentioning on the menu so in essence this combo is way overpriced for 3 pieces of fish and fries. We also ordered a large ceasar salad for $10 and again; way too small of a portion; id hate to see the regular size. Overall though - the flavor of the meal itself was good. No complaints. It just is disappointing to have your meal arrive and think "thats it?".

The service was lack lustre and indifferent which is also part of the dining experience. Our server plopped our flatware and plates down and only came to drop off our food and drinks. No quality check and no table maintenance as our plates sat empty and so did a few other table's. Nothing major but it was clear she did not feel like being there.

The restaurant is licensed which is nice but again, overpriced. Our meal was $62 for 3 pcs of fish, fries, a small salad and 2 domestic beers.

Nice view, clean, patio and open air seating, open concept style kitchen. Not bad...

Went here for the reasonable price and good patio, which turns out all the place has going for it. Had to wait longer than necessary to have our order taken (wasn't busy) waiter spilt water on the table when he clumsily put the tray on the table, didnt offer to wipe it up, then dropped knifes and forks on table and left, no exaggeration. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, tasted OK but the portions are tiny, (for $1 more you can get 2x the calamari at charlie don't surf) so after we finish our food the waiter asks if our food is ok and before we can finish our answer he's already walking away. So now we wait for the bill, no rush but its taking a long time, finally he comes over and asks "would you like the bill?" We say "yes, please" and then he says "ok you have to pay at the till" yeah, like why even ask us?

Anyway, pay the bill and I'm expecting my change, the woman closes the till, walks to the back and gets a beer for another patron, i had to ask for my change, she pretends she just plain forgot, gee golly whiz i hate it when that happens.

Needless to say I didn't tip and wont be going back.

PS. Went to the bathroom and at first thought i had entered a utility closet, no its actually the bathroom, it just...

The servers were really nice...bless their hearts...the owner or the manager is very rude...a piece of fish is more than 13 dollars! Don't get halibut (1 piece) unless you want mediocre battered taste for 25 bucks. She was telling me it was because the fish prices have gone up...I get it...but the least she can do is make it a bit special...they basically tossed frozen fish and oysters in the fryer...and laid it on a bed of equally mediocre fries...I dont think she reads her restaurant's reviews...so why bother giving one...im so disappointed because my inlaws have eaten there for years...and it was my first time...I was excited but it failed my expectations...by the way...we ordered 2 1 piece of plate with fries...1 halibut plate with fries...1 fried oyster plate with fries and 2 extra pieces of cod....and it all came down to $104. If I knew I was going to spend that much...might have chosen a high end fish and chips place with higher...
