Read moreI've lived in Whote Rock for 6 years. It is a lovely place for a walk on the promenade (end to end about 2km), a picnic, or a beach day. It is a busy place as shops, restaurants and bars parallel the beach. These are separate from the beach by parking and a raised train track. Lots of services and excellent public bathrooms. Head to East beach at low tide to walk on the sand, and dogs allowed off leash. A good boat launch for little kayaks and similar on West beach. Free parking most days in winter, (Oct-Mar) see City website. Dogs allowed on promenade on leash in winter only. Free small museum near the fabulous pier (longest wooden pier in Canada), often wonderful events beside the museum, and area e.g. Sea Fest,...

For sure we will never return. On top, we will NEVER recommend anyone to go there. Its a beautiful place... but again, looks like the locals do not want visitors on...
