The worst restaurant experience of my life. This place has the worst service I’ve ever seen. When I first walked in, I asked if there was a server, and since I didn’t get a clear answer, I asked if it was self-service. I was told “yes,” but there is absolutely no sign anywhere or any notice online that it’s self-service. I then asked how long the food would take, and they said 20 minutes. I placed my order — prices are ridiculously high, by the way — and after 30 minutes I went to check. They just said, “we’re cooking it.” Then the owner came over with the receipt, showing me the order time (9:23 pm) and claimed it had only been 20 minutes when it was already 9:53. Clearly, not good with numbers 🙂. In reality, our food took almost 40 minutes to arrive. Nearly every table was full of dirty, uncleared dishes. The food itself was a disaster — the chicken was burnt, the rice was clearly reheated in a microwave, and there was absolutely no flavor at all. This was not just the worst experience in Vancouver, but honestly the worst dining experience of my entire life. I do not recommend this place under any circumstances.

We were in the area shopping and checked out yelp for some good places to eat. Kababji had great reviews and we decided to check it out. The restaurant has a good number of tables, you can sit inside or outside. Indoors, there are large TVs mounted on the walls (maybe a little too high) so you can watch a soccer game while you enjoy your dish and there is Lebanese music playing in the background. We ordered the shawarma lamb platter and the cube lamb sandwich which we upgraded to a combo (I do not recommend the upgrade). The wait was a bit long, not a dealbreaker though. I LOVED the lamb platter, it was pretty feeling and the lamb was very tasty. A little on the pricy side for lunch, but I do not regret it. The lamb cubes sandwich was forgettable. The lamb was chewy. Also the combo is not worth it IMO, for an extra 4$ you get a cane of coke and salad or fries I believe, the salad was quite small. In summary we really liked the lamb shawarma but not so much the sandwich. Definitely try the shawarma there. **** for the shawarma *** for the sandwich

I really don't want to leave a negative feedback to a small local business but I want this resto to improve because it definitely can. Prior to dining here, I had to read the reviews and view photos so I'd know what to expect and we were excited to try Lebanese cuisine. We were early at 12 noon for their official opening at 1130 AM 🙄 This was our first time here, we sat ourselves and waited. We asked if he was working alone and it was, indeed a one-man-show so we considered that. We had a family meal, which is generous for 5 diners and tea for beverage. It was a sit-down lunch so we were expecting silver wares, china and fragile tea cups, as shown in photos by legit reviews. The foods arrived in foil and foam serving dish and disposable utensils. We were so disappointed but we still ate some and took off. Props to the multi-tasking guy who prepared and served the foods, but the service was dismal. Sorry!

Our recent dining experience was, unfortunately, one of the worst we've ever had. The food was overwhelmingly salty and dominated by an overpowering taste of raw garlic—so much so that it felt like we had consumed an entire pod each. Despite the higher-than-average prices, the portions were small, and the quality of the food was dreadful.

To make matters worse, we found a strand of hair in one of the dishes. When we reported it to the staff, the response was shockingly dismissive—just a brief apology and the plate taken away, with no replacement or compensation offered.

The aftermath was even more distressing. All four of us felt nauseated after the meal and ended up needing medical attention at the hospital. We even informed the staff about how poorly the food was prepared, but no steps were taken to address our concerns.

The food is served rather fast which is good, but what’s the point if it’s tastes awful. I rarely speak poorly about food, but this experience was nothing short of a nightmare. We won’t be returning—it's simply not worth the risk to one's health.

We were very disappointed with our experience. There was no effort to offer a replacement or ask if we were satisfied with the food. In fact, there was no one available to address our concerns—the staff disappeared inside and didn’t return until most people had already left. The music was turned off while we waited and waited to give our review, despite being the only customers in the restaurant and someone with one small Shawarma. That alone should have been a red flag, but we wanted to support a new local business and give it a try.

As for the claim that we “licked our plates clean,” this is completely false. Half the food was left untouched because it was simply inedible. We didn’t raise our concerns at the time because no one was there to talk to, and we overheard what sounded like an argument coming from the kitchen. There were only two staff members—a chef and someone taking orders—which is fine if the service is handled well, but it wasn’t.

We also have photos to support our feedback, so this isn’t just baseless criticism. Your response, however, lacks the courtesy of a sincere apology. Instead of addressing the issues, you've resorted to blaming the customer. Offering a replacement wouldn’t have helped in this case—we wouldn’t want to risk ending up in the hospital, longer.

For future reference, disappearing on customers, turning off the music, and essentially forcing them to leave hungry, upset, and feeling ignored is not acceptable. If you had apologized properly and been honest in your response, I might have considered taking down my review after some time. However, your false arguments have only made things worse. Also, regarding your portions—when the food served is a quarter of what’s shown in the advertisements, what do you expect? No one can even get a proper taste before complaining with such misleading presentation. Then u would have replied - you’ll didn’t eat enough to know its real taste. We were polite enough not to complain about the taste or other issues up to that point, even though we were quite disappointed. However, finding a hair in the food crossed the line. When we finally pointed it out, the staff's response was a dismissive "Sorry, guys," as they took the plate away. There was no effort to address the situation properly or make amends.

Bad after taste, falling sick and now this..we don’t have any familial animosity to blame you unnecessarily… Not going to reply any further, it’s just waste of my time and shows on your part you’ll...

I walked in and there was absolutely nobody in sight to help me. The music was blasting so loud it honestly felt like a party. I waited about five minutes and then got a bit frustrated because nobody was there to greet me. I started looking over into the kitchen and saw a woman standing there, I said hello and she looked very startled. She came to put in my order and I ordered the Shawarma plate. She seemed confused on how to put my order in, but somehow managed. I asked for extra beef which cost an additional five dollars. I was pretty shocked To see the Shawarma plate was $25. Very outrageous price and now including extra beef it was $30 plus I felt obligated to leave her a tip because she was staring at me so hard. So one Shawarma plate with extra beef cost me $35. If I had just drove in 10 minutes into the city, it would’ve been under 20 bucks. Crazy price! She told me to come back in 10 minutes and so I did. When I came back, she handed me my bag. I confirmed with her that there was cutlery inside, napkins, and all the sauces, and pita bread. She confirmed that everything was inside. Except for the cutlery, she said they didn’t have any. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to eat a Shawarma plate without cutlery so I asked if she could kindly find me some. She found me a spoon, but it was dirty and said that was the best she could do. I am so confused and I think she could tell I was confused so she says I’m sorry this is my first day. I’m thinking this is your first day? Why isn’t the owner here with you? Why are you taking orders and making the meals all by yourself? I felt bad for her. So I left to the beach to enjoy my meal. When I opened up my Shawarma plate it was nothing like I had ever experienced before. The beef was majority all fat! I thought I was exaggerating, so I took a picture and sent it to my husband who then confirmed this looked disgusting! And the salad they gave on the side was so overly seasoned. All I could taste was black pepper. And of course there was no pita bread. I cannot believe this is what I was presented after spending $35. I ate as much as I could, but the beef was way overly seasoned and did not taste very good. I went to this place because I saw all the reviews but now I’m starting to think some of these reviews must not be honest or because it was a girls first day she didn’t know how to make the food. I am very disappointed and I would not mind if the owner reached out and made this experience better for me. I eat Shawarma about 2 to 3 times a week and I thought this might be my new go to spot, but there is no way I will go back to this spot unless The owner makes it right. I am so disappointed. Thank you for...

I don't normally write reviews but I felt I just had to say something. Have you ever just had one of those days where nothing was working out? This happened to me today. Busy day with kids and appointments and had no time to go home and eat. We decided to give Kababji a try because it smelled so good outside the restaurant and we were starved. We went in, had a look at the menus and made our order to go. It should have been quick and easy except that when I went to pay for our food (which was prepared quickly with only a 5 minute wait while the gentleman preparing our meal also served other eating in) and I discovered that my bank card was missing, cue panic. Calling the bank, transferring funds around and holding up the show feeling totally awkward with 3 hungry kids I thought I had finally managed to find a solution. Unfortunately the card we tried to use was declined. That is when the lovely man serving us told me not to worry about the bill, that we could take care of it another day and to just go and enjoy our meal. I was dumbstruck, we had a large order and the bill was significant. I was truly touched by the offer and the kindness and it turned my day around, so nice to see such kindness in a busy city that can feel so impersonal at times. I can't say thank you enough. In the end, I did manage to pay the bill and it all worked out. And of course I should mention that our food was fantastic! I would reccomend Kababji to everyone and I look forward to coming...
