- ordered the $16.95 "Salmon Donburi". I was expecting chopped pieces of salmon. Instead, I was served 6 thick pieces of center-part salmon sashimis. Other restaurants use odds and ends chopped into little pieces, hoping you can't tell they give you crap. At Sushi Iwa, you get quality, thick pieces of sashimis. I was pleasantly surprised. 👍👍👍 - wife's $15.95 "Beef Udon" was alright, according to the wife. Nothing spectacular, but it was a big bowl full of udon. However, I find it somewhat overpriced as the beef pieces were too few to justify for this price. - as always with any sushi restaurants, we usually order Hamachi and Toro Nigiri sushis. Here, we ordered 4 of each. Toro Nigiri is $3.95 each, and Hamachi Nigiri is $4.50 each. To our surprise, the raw fish pieces were the most generous we have ever tried in any sushi restaurant in GVA. They were the thickest and very fresh. We normally order Amaebi Nigiri also, but I find Sushi Iwa's to be slightly overpriced, at $4.95 each, whereas it's $4 each at our favorite sushi restaurant. Having tried various other sushi restaurants in GVA, Amaebi Nigiris are usually laughable. I always laughed at GVA's Amaebi being malnourished, compared to Asia's Amaebi. Now that we know how generous Sushi Iwa's overings are, we may have to come back another time to see if it's worth the price, if its Amaebi is bigger than the rest of the pack. We'll be back! This place did not disappoint. Looks like coming all this way down under is worth the trouble. We'll be back for sure!

We ordered the crispy & crunchy roll, salmon aburi oshi, salmon sashimi (unfortunately they didn’t have toro salmon available during our visit), and few nigiri sushi (hotate, otoro, ikura, ika, and masago) for our lunch. The roll and oshi we had were well balanced in terms of the flavour. For the salmon sashimi, it was fresh and up to the bar. However, for the nigiri we had, they were a bit off. Hotate, it had the sweetness of the scallop but it wasn’t fresh; ika, it wasn’t as smooth as it should be as it was stored for a few days. Ikura & masago, they were decent. Otoro, it’s a melt-in-the-mouth sushi due the fatty tissue with the creamy and rich texture but it didn’t have as much high oil content as I expected. All in all, I’d come back to try their dons or teriyaki but probably not nigiri sushi. Friendly staff though!

I'm so glad I revisited White Rock after a long time, and I'm thrilled to have shared the experience with my family for the first time! The stunning views and charming environment made for a perfect day out. As we strolled along the pier, the kids had one craving in mind - sushi! Luckily, we discovered the highly-recommended "Sushi Iwa" right by the pier . We ordered a variety of sushi roll combos and a bento box, and our family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're ever in the area and craving sushi, I highly recommend "Sushi Iwa" for a delicious and family-friendly dining experience. We can't wait to come back! - Dine out Daily Fam -

I love Sushi and White Rock has an abundance of really good and affordable Sushi restaurants. Sushi Iwa is new among the pack of Sushi establishments here and I was excited to try it out and see how it stacked up against the many others. I was doubly excited in that this establishment is on the beach in White Rock and is currently the only Sushi eatery down there. My expectations were high because, like I said, we have a number of fine Sushi restaurants in town. That being said, I have to say that Sushi Iwa exceed my high expectations! The restaurant was very nicely laid out and decorated in a simple but elegant Japanese style, the patio out front is not huge but comfortable with a nice view of the White Rock Marine Drive scene, service was friendly and efficient, even the bathroom was nicely designed and clean. The sushi rolls were amazing. I was there with a group of 5 enthusiastic Japanese food connoisseurs and everyone who had rolls agree that they were among the best they had had. They were of a good size, fresh and very tasty. The miso soup was very good and we shared saki, also good. The only dish ordered among our party to not to get a rave review was the Yakisobo (still good but not among the best). Now, perhaps the best surprise of of all was the price. When one might anticipate paying more of a premium price for an establishment located on the White Rock beach, Sushi Iwa's prices were actually a little lower than the average sushi place in the area. What a bonus - premium sushi and premium location all at a better than average price. I think Sushi Iwa has just become my favorite sushi restaurant in town. I will be back- again and...

I took my date to Sushi Iowa today. My first impression walking into the restaurant that it was clean and new with nice furnishings, great vibes and atmosphere. I ordered the beef teriyaki and some selections sushi sashimi. Beef or chicken teriyaki is one of my all-time favourite foods and I have tried it in many different restaurants. This was the best beef teriyaki I have ever tried in my life. I hope that I’m not over selling it too much and you’ll be disappointed but this is just my opinion. The owner informed me that they use real wasabi not powdered wasabi like many other restaurants use. I couldn’t believe that I didn’t know this already being that I thought I was some kind of sushi connoisseur. Well the real wasabi is what I’m gonna be looking for from now on because it was absolutely amazing with my sushi. I will be going back to this restaurant again very soon. I live in Richmond but will definitely drive there just to eat. If you are going to eat here I would recommend doing it soon because with food and service like this there’s no way you’re going to be getting a table in this restaurant so I’m gonna take advantage now before it’s too late.

Thank you for an amazing dinning experience Sushi Iwa

Warmest...
