One of the tastier donairs I've had in a while, also one of the smallest. The lady working on Saturday May 31st in the early afternoon was training a new employee, she was either really frustrated with them or maybe she's just not an attentive or happy type as I was there to be seen for longer than most would stick around while being ignored, me included. No acknowledgement or "we'll be right with you" nothing, not even a smile. Then when she did acknowledge me, no hello or sorry for the wait while I explain our extensive toppings in the cold line to our new worker, nothing!!...just "are you ready to order". Because of the good reviews and a craving for donair was the only reason I looked past the first impression given to me. Although the tiny donair was very tasty, it's hard to look past the negative interaction. Most likely won't be coming back, Instead I'll be setting my sites across the street to another place I noticed when I came outside with my very light wrap called Ojas Blend, where I read they offer up some real good food, impressive portions and exceptional prices according to their google reviews. Looking forward to it.
Edit post owners response...
Thank-you for taking the time to respond to my recent "real" visit to your establishment. It comes as no surprise that someone with difficulty grasping the concept of customer service and how it goes above and beyond serving tasty food, would also believe that...
A) I'm not a "real" customer. I may be wrong, I'm sure you'll correct me if you believe I am, but isn't anyone that spends their hard earned money in your shop a "real customer", regardless whether they are from a competing business or not?
B) Because I noticed another interesting looking food establishment when exiting yours I must be affiliated with said business. If so I must also be affiliated to a cannabis store, vape shop, barber and so on. You see, I'm new to the area and I'm discovering many interesting spots that I want to check out. So to all reading this, I along with the owner here, will let you come to your own "conclusions" as to my "real" motivations. Before you do please note my last name which is of Italian heritage. Now do a quick Google search and see if it hits to the names of the Ojas Blend owners, which according to Google are chefs Himanshu Dubey and Anik Mehra. Perhaps they are from the south of Italy?? Yet definitely not related or even remotely acquainted. Although, considering the defensive tone of your response, I'm sure you won't be convinced.
C) That I am hyper-focused on the negative... When you yourself appreciated me opening with how tasty your product was!! Unfortunately for you everything else offered me that day wasn't enough to keep me coming back. So instead of using your powers of persuasion to entice me back, you instead went with your powers of perception and defensiveness to keep me away! An Interesting business practice indeed!! Perhaps it speaks to why at the height of lunch hour you had one single diner, along with me standing at your counter being ignored. Thankfully it was because you were doing the "important" part of owning a business in "onboarding" your new employee. I'm sure you'll be happy to know they too could not be bothered to smile or even look like they wanted to be there, which without doubt is a reflection on you, your business acumen and method of operation.
To any potential new patrons...If you want a very tasty, albeit tiny donair, this is the place for you!! Especially if you hate being made to feel "at home" or you're wanting a cold lifeless interaction while waiting for take-out. Be sure to not share anything online that could help the owners make improvements in the areas needed, outside of their expertise with FLAVOUR of course, they hate criticism as much as they hate smiling...
In closing... Thank-you for wishing me well in my culinary journey madam/sir, it indeed has been a wonderful one so far. I too wish you well... Making it to your lease extension. Be well and stay safe!!
Peace, Love and...
Read moreOverall good. The flavours were good but I was a little disappointed with the lamb. It was relatively under seasoned but the sauces helped. Not dry but just lacking. My shwarma again was good - although it was my first time having it pressed in a panini maker, so all my veggies (or at least the majority) were all warmed so it felt more like a burrito or wrap than a shawarma or donair. The menu is small but it appears they have a nice variety of platters and plates as well. They advertised 'donairs' but their menu inside only said shwarma; not sure if there is a major difference but perhaps this is where the press came in. I was hoping for more Lebanese flavours in both their sauces and protien, but generally I enjoyed my lunch for the price. You get a decent sized wrap for $9 which is great for a quick meal. The staff were friendly and prompt. Lots of parking and 1 table outside to sit. Their hotsauce was fairly mild, the way their counter is situated you can't see their veggies but they gave me lettuce, onion, pickles, tomato and garlic sauce. Super simple and and...
Read moreMashawee Grill was a great choice for lunch with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. The restaurant has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and even though it wasn’t very busy, the staff was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed.
The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. We ordered a mix of kebabs, shawarma, and mezze, and everything was cooked perfectly. The meats were tender and seasoned just right, the hummus was smooth and rich, and the falafel had a nice crisp texture. The fresh pita was a great touch, bringing everything together. Portions were generous, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out.
Service was prompt and efficient, and we never felt rushed. The staff was also very accommodating with our grandson, making it a comfortable dining experience for our whole family.
Overall, Mashawee Grill delivered delicious food in a relaxed and welcoming setting. If you’re looking for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine with great flavors and good service, it’s definitely worth a visit....
