Never particularly dined in but did eat lots of different dishes there. For someone who's lived in Toronto and had this kind of food from one end of the spectrum to the other, I can safely say that the food here is below par/mediocre at best. Many of the dishes are bland and made with processed ingredients (the chicken specifically was the most disappointing).
Anything that has chicken as a secondary ingredient uses processed, sliced chicken that has zero flavor. The rice in the fried rice isn't fried or seasoned, it's just plain white rice. No sesame oil, soy sauce or anything to give it any flavor profile. Same goes for the chow mein.
Fried dishes (boneless pork and chicken) also tasted old and dry almost every time I ordered them. It was obvious that they were cooked and left on the heat plate a bit too long. I could also tell not the best cuts were used to make these dishes, more often than not I found myself biting into a chunk of fat, cartilage or tendon. Almost every piece has something unpleasant in it and it also tastes as though it was deep fried in old oil (yes, almost every time). The wonton also barely has any meat in it. It's almost a 1:10 meat/wrapper ratio.
Aside from that, it's not the worst I've ever eaten and the portions are pretty big which I suppose is alright but the argument of quality over quantity will always be at play. The options for Chinese restaurants are slim so if you crave for this particular kind of food, you kind of have to work with what you have.
I wouldn't say I'd never come back but I'd need to have a DIEHARD craving for Chinese food to...
Read moreThe worst food and customer service experience in WL, complete with insulting rude comments from the manager… I ordered for takeout, a combo #6 (almond chicken, chow-mein, sweet and sour pork) and an egg roll for a picnic to share with my partner during our 30 minute lunch break. I went to open the takeout and noticed first of all no napkins, & no utensils for our Chinese food takeout picnic. Then, we saw that they had given me the wrong order and we got rice, deep fried prawns and sweet sour pork. I went back to the restaurant on my way back to work and was told they would not refund me for the incorrect meal or inconvenience of not being able to eat a meal that I ordered and paid for between my 12 hour shift and my partners 8 hour shift. I brought the meal back, the manager was very rude and called me a liar regarding the order being incorrect and the fact that we couldn’t eat it as we had ordered take out for a picnic with no utensil’s. I ended up going back to show them and just left the takeout meal at the restaurant, did not get a refund or even an apology for this rather inconvenient and hungry lunch. Sadly, we will not be ordering from this restaurant again (too bad for them as we eat lunch out quite often) and will not hesitate to share this experience with friends, family...
Read moreHolidays are always busy but that shouldn't excuse the mundane bored and inconvenient look that was received whilst an order was placed for take out. Told to come back in half an hour when it would be ready. Came back after 35 minutes and waited about 10 minutes with nobody at the register or even asking if we needed help. Once someone finally did come and ask if we had been helped we were told the food was not ready yet, so 45 minutes past. After the wait was over, another 10 minutes we finally received our food. Got it home only to find that the order of spareribs (Which was confirmed twice as ordered) found it to be dry garlic pork, so essentially overcharged for something I never received. Okay so one food related issue, until I opened the deep fried prawns to find they were so overcooked and rock hard we just threw them out. So two food related issues, until I opened the wonton soup which was lukewarm ... if that. At this point we were just done and did not want to travel back into town to get it fixed when it should have been a proper visit and...
