We were quite disappointed by our experience at Bonnie Day. I’ve heard lots of positive reviews on this place so my husband and I decided to try it out last weekend for breakfast. When we arrived, there was just one person at the counter, waiting for a coffee. There were four different staff members in the front area, but not one them greeted us or acknowledged our presence in any way. After about five minutes of waiting, standing in the small entryway, my husband spoke up and asked if we needed to wait to be seated. At that point a worker, who was wearing a blue beanie completely covered in pet hair, wordlessly shoved a dirty paper menu at us. When we asked if we should seat ourselves, he told us to wait and order at the counter. We stood there for at least another five minutes before he was ready to to take our order, despite there only being one other customer ahead of us. At this point, quite a few more customers had arrived, and were standing in line behind us. No staff greeted any of them either and we heard the group behind us talking about leaving. My husband passed out menus to everyone in line because the staff could not be bothered. The baking looked wonderful, but unfortunately, it was all displayed on trays on the front counter that were uncovered, and every customer walked by them and stood in front of them. There was some coughing and sneezing, so definitely decided to skip those. We ordered drip coffee and it was decent. My husband ordered avocado toast, and I had the yogurt and granola, and we both were happy with our food. One other thing I noticed is the barista was placing finished drinks on the counter and calling out the order. The table beside us grabbed an order and brought it back to their table. The drinks sat on the table for a few minutes before they apparently realized they had taken the wrong order. They returned the drinks to the counter, and the barista did not bother to make it fresh before calling out the order again. I was glad I had ordered a drip coffee. I must say we will most likely never return. Although the food and coffee were fine, I prefer to give my business to establishments that don’t act as if it’s a hassle to serve...
Read moreNever Better Coffee has been one of the best things to come into my life this past year. My favourite coffee that I was buying ended up getting replaced and I was looking to find something to fill the void. I started looking around the web for light roasted coffees to order in Canada and stumbled upon Never Better Coffee when I did. After reading a little bit into Adam and Jordan’s story, I figured that I’d give them a try. I’m extremely happy that I did because the coffee that these gents carry are nothing short of phenomenal. They have a great selection with informative write-ups for each, giving you a sneak peek into each coffee they sell. I have had the opportunity to try about half of what they carry and not a single one was terrible. There is absolutely NOTHING that I want to wake up to more than the Rabbit Hole Shoondhisa or the Rabbit Hole Kaku. These are easily my favourite coffees. The guys are always adding more coffee too so there’s no way you’ll ever get bored of the menu here. Besides the incredible coffee that they carry, if you live in Winnipeg, the guys actually drop your order off to you the same day if you order before 10am. INCREDIBLE.
Listen, I’m not going to try sugar-coat this. The coffee is a little more expensive than the grocery store coffee you’re buying right now, but there are numerous justifications why the coffee you’re getting here is better than ANYTHING you’ve had before. The moment that your boiling water makes contact with the coffee, the aroma will blow your socks off. Instant salivation, just like Homer and a fresh, pink-frosted donut. You will not be disappointed in the least. If you’re the type of person who relishes every sip, then you have definitely come to the right place. You’re just not going to find better coffee than “Never...
Read moreFantastic job making over this spot. Its an elegant, cozy restaurant transformed from the neighborhood cafe it once was.
I felt it had a bit of a wine bar appeal, but the food offerings were mainly sandwich fare.
The Porchetta Press $15.50 Adult Grilled Cheese $13.50 Waffle Flatbread $15.50 Fish Tacos $14
The Adult grilled cheese was disappointing. There was no cheese flavor. The other items (Porchetta press and waffle flatbread) we could taste the cheese. I would have liked it more if they had used a butterkase cheese instead. After the disappointing grilled cheese, everything tasted better. My dining companion seemed to have problems with the other items, rating them all a 3, but I rather liked the waffle flatbread. I didn't get to it until it was cold, but had it been warm, it might have been a 5. The porchetta press was a solid 4 as were the Fish tacos.
Sausage Rolls $13 Chicken Tacos $13 We didn't order these but my friends did. They seemed satisfied with it.
Service was friendly. When we reported our disappointment with our grilled cheese sandwich they told us they would talk to the kitchen. My friends told the server it was lacking cheese, but it was lacking in cheese flavor. We primarily tasted the apple and the bread.
I really loved the setting of the restaurant. Its a very nice space! It is located on Westminster, close to Verde. Parking is available on the...
