Went to Flea Whiskey's on a Saturday night. The place wasn't too busy (this should've been our first sign). My friend and I stood at the door for 15 minutes before a vey unenthused server came to greet us. We asked her about a pool table as there were several empty. She proceeded to inform us that they were all reserved. We asked for a booth instead. She rolled her eyes and gestured around saying we could sit anywhere that was open. We chose a booth near the front and took our seats. We sat for another 20 minutes before a different server finally came and checked on us and asked if we'd like menus. We said yes and were brought what was apparently their menu. Four sheets of food stained printer paper stapled together with food item descriptions and prices. Not exactly the most sanitary or appealing menus. We both looked past the menu thing and placed our drink orders while continuing to decide on food. When the drinks arrived, they were wrong. We didn't complain about them and the server didn't offer to correct it. They only said that they would get it right the next round. The server came back and took our food orders, then brought another round of drinks without asking and this time spilled them all over our table. The server didn't bother to apologize or clean up. We saw our server one final time before they brought us our bill, when they brought us our food. We ordered two identical plates of the Irish Nachos -a relatively safe bet and apparent must-have. When they arrived, one order was without chicken and had less than half the cheese and toppings of the other. Both were extremely soggy with fryer oil, yet neither were hot! Consistency and quality had apparently gone out the kitchen window. Our Irish nachos were served to us, and had apparently been cooked on foil burger wrappers. The foil side was up and easily peeled and flaked off into the nachos. At this point we were so hungry that we ate around the disintegrating foil wrapper and accepted the mediocre-at-best food. Our bill was brought to us without ever once checking up or asking how we were doing. The service was dismissive, and lacklustre. We were charged for our initial round of drinks (made incorrectly), the second round that was spilled, and our plates of greasy, cold potatoes covered in a sprinkling of cheese. From start to finish, this experience was purely abysmal. We paid our bill and left. As we walked out the door, we couldn't help but notice that the pool tables we asked about, were still empty. I wish I could say that our experience ended here. It unfortunately ended with the most gut wrenching and painful episode of food poisoning I can remember. I strongly recommend staying away from Flea Whiskey's if you don't want to waste your money, time or destroy your...

Went on a farewell lunch for a colleague and I came in almost 20 minutes later because of my lunch hours at work. A colleague made arrangements that I will be coming in later. However, to my surprise when I arrived the manager Daryl told me that I was late. I took that in as a joke. My food took 20 minutes to arrive and he served my food and again mentioned to me that I was late. I started getting annoyed and asked my colleagues why he kept on saying that? My colleague who made arrangements said that she did mention that someone will arrive 15 to 20 minutes late. As I looked at the time, I only have 15 minutes left to eat and get back to work, I decided to just have it packed and finish at work. Asked for a container and went to pay for my bill. The manager was at the cashier and then again mentioned to me that I was late after I made my payment. At this point, I had enough and told him that I was quite offended, because it is none of his business but so he know I did tell him that (1) he was informed I will be arriving later and (2) my lunch break is scheduled as such. That I honestly don't think I need to defend myself but I felt like I did. I asked for the manager, he said he was the manager so I asked for his boss. To which he said he is in Calgary and he will not give him his number. If I can give a minus ratings I will give one. I called in the evening and got the evening manager to which he gave me the owner's email address. To my dismay, after submitting my complaint, no apologies or response from the owner either. I never returned to that establishment as they do not care losing customers. We did our work Christmas party there in 2015 and 2016. MY colleagues who organizes out Christmas party stated that they also had a bad experience with Daryl. That's why we are not having out Christmas party in 2017. I was glad because I was planning not to go since I have boycotted this establishment. The horrible manager is still there and it is now 2018. Management is either desperate for staff or they support having...
Read moreFair price for pool, decent variety of beers on tap and staff is very nice. One major complaint I have though is that our server was not clear about the charges for our food and we had a drink we didn't ask for added to our bill.
Our group ordered nachos and we were asked if we wanted a full size or half size order. We asked for the full size order. She then said "chicken or beef?" as if the nachos included your choice of either. I knew this was an add on because I saw it written that way in the menu, our server never mentioned that this was extra. I don't eat chicken or beef anyway so we passed.
When we ordered our drinks I asked about one of the taps because I didn't recognize it. Our server told us what it was but I decided to order something else. When our drinks came she provided us with a sample of the beer I asked the name of (I didn't request a sample). The sample was maybe three sips worth in the bottom third of a high ball glass. Neither my date not myself liked it and we thanked the server for it but told her that we didn't care for it.
We played pool for an hour or two and had a very good time. Our server came often to check on us but not so often that we felt harassed.
Then the bill came and I was annoyed by two things: first we were charged for a pint of the beer that we only had an unsolicited sample of. I disputed this however and it was removed. Still, we had a group and that was a $7.50 charge that could have easily slipped by. Second, our "full order" of nachos was billed as $13 nachos + $6 for upsizing the order. It was never explained to us that the $13 price listed in the menu was only for the half size order. I chose not to debate this charge though because they were very tasty and the portion did seem like it was worth it for the price.
Basically our experience at Flea Whiskey's was very positive and all of us will be back. I just think they should work on being more transparent about upsizing orders and make sure their bills are accurate and only charge customers for items they have...
