If you want good cultural food, follow the people from that culture. After venturing out on my own, and trying some local Ethiopian, and the highest rated place on skip, I was directed to Habesha. By Habesha people. These are predominantly people from Eritrea and Ethiopia. So how is it different? There were numerous flavors that I had not experienced at my other dining experiences. Besides that, the portions were astounding. This could have easily been lunch for 2. I ordered a meat and veggie combo, and got to try 2 separate meat dishes, and 4 veggie dishes. There was also a kind of mid point between yogurt and cheese that served as a topping that was a nice little addition to the meal. Not realizing the size of the combo, I ordered a single veggie samosa, which was packed full of lentils and served with a spicy sauce. It was all served with the classic injera that I had experienced before. Injera is kind of like a sourish spongey pita. Along with your fingers, it is also the main utensil for getting the food to your mouth. It serves as kind of a mat for the dishes which are served on top. So you basically eat the plate! You tear off a piece, fill it with a dish of your choice and open wide. The magic is in how the injera soaks up the sauces from each dish. It was an amazing experience. If you're looking for a food adventure, Habesha will...
Read moreIf you want to try the worst Ethiopian's food in your life, I would highly recommend "Habesha Ethiopian Restaurant" in Winnipeg. This is no exaggeration, the food was really awful and you will not get what you exactly see on thier menu😡 What i got wasn't a Cha Cha at all😡 Misleading....
I ordered online a special meat dish called cha cha. Not only were the portions small for the price..., it didn't taste good either. Tasteless food, without seasoning🤮
Very small portion compared to other Ethiopian restaurant.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND anyone to go there even if you have no choice, it is better to stay hungry than... I couldn't eat it, the meat smelled....🤮
Unfortunately, this was one of the worst foods I've had in Winnipeg. I was so craving cha cha, but thank to the awful...😢😡 Check out the attached photos... Responding to your reply: You are not only a misleading person but also you are lacking integrity... I did order online through "skip the dishes ". I didn't pick it up myself 🙄 there was no delay at all. You should apologize for the misleading instead of coming up with lies 😒. Very shameful!! I did order cha cha and you send me something completely different from what you have on your menu!! I do give reviews based on what you exactly.... if you check farther...you will see more good reviews too. I value my money and I expect to...
Read moreTHIS IS A MUST TRY!! It was our first visit to Habesha. A coworker recommended the restaurant to us. The ambience was clean and inviting. We were nicely greeted and seated promptly. We were celebrating a Birthday. We placed our order, which takes longer than your usual restaurant. (We were prepared, the person that made the recommendation said it might take a while) The wait was about 40 minutes, but I have to tell you, it's worth the wait. Good things seldom come fast. We ordered the Vegetable platter, Cha Cha, Beef tips, Vegetable Samosa. Doro Wat (Traditional Christmas Dish). All of it was.. AMAZING!! Good portions. And it was fresh. Mimi the owner was very friendly, she checked on us a few times, shared her story and said that today was their Christmas. (I learned something new today) We look forward to coming back to try the coffee. We were so full, we didn't have the room. But it seemed that everyone was ordering it. Great Job Mimi and Habesha,...
