Pho Que Huong — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Looking for one of the best Pho in town? Look no further this place is definitely authentic, what I mean by that is when they make their broth its definitely made the right way like the way they do it back home. I am not a chef just an ordinary person that loves asain soup! They have the only one that I onlu order when I come here called ''Sautè Pho'' or ''Pho Sautè''. My barber who was born and raised in Vietnam comes here only for this particular soup, he has been to many restaurants in search for this particular pho. Once he brought me here I was hooked, I can't have the regular type pho anymore as there are more flavors and taste to this dish. You can order this with just rare beef or a deluxe version with rare beef, tripe, tendons, and beef balls. Once I am done and if I haven't already devoured the soup I will make room for their dessert called ''Che Ba Mau'' Again I had serval of these and this one has to be one of the best if not the best in the city! I am a person who doesn't really like hot and spicy foods, so this particular pho soup isnt that spicy it does has spice but nothing extreme as my 11 year old son will eat it. Everyone that I've taken here so far about 8 people now have aslo had what I ordered and they love it. If you are in the area or want to try some other pho restaurant be sure to check this place out. Normally I am not one to write reviews! That being said, this place is amazing and after my most recent order I just felt like they deserved praise! I have ordered from Pho Que Huong through Skip the Dishes numerous times and I have also had the pleasure of visiting their restaurant! Their pho is perfectly seasoned and not overpowering. The portion is HUGE and not just noodles either! They make sure that there is always plenty of meat and garnishes! I have had pho all over Winnipeg and this is by far the best. It arrives to your door piping hot (as it should). I've actually had the disappointment of having cold/luke warm pho delivered to me from other restaurants with paper instructions telling me to warm it up in the microwave? Really? Anyway, if you haven't tried this place yet I highly recommend it! If you have the opportunity I would also visit their restaurant for yourself (sorry skip the dishes)! The man who works there(he might be the owner) is an absolute gentleman and treats his customers like royalty! He has a strong sense of urgency when he is serving you which I appreciate being from a culinary background! (He literally runs to place your order! Amazing!) The menu is huge and there are a lot of amazing choices! However, being the pho fan I am I always go for the pho because it is seriously addicting! TRY IT OUT FOR...

Pho Que Huong is an unassuming, not-so-trendy place located relatively close to the downtown district. The service is something to be desired, but that's okay. The food, the price and the speed it is served more then makes up for the lack of service afterwards. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food that was served. The salad rolls are easily 25-50% larger then comparables and the soup is enough to serve three. Besides the quantity, the flavour is something else. The Satay soup we had was less spicy then other restaurants, but had layer upon layer of subtle and we'll nuanced flavours, making each spoonful better then the one before. The Deluxe Chow Mein contained a different type of crispy noodles then what we are used to. I actually preferred these as they were lighter and had more snap to them. The shrimp wasn't overcooked and blended nicely with the beef and chicken. The sizzling plate (beef with ginger and lemon) was the real deal and arguably the biggest surprise. The ginger was just enough to make it's presence known and didn't overpower the dish, allowing for the fresh onions and thinly sliced beef to be fully represented.

After eating at 15+ different Vietnamese restaurants in Winnipeg, this might be our favourite. Don't let the reviews of horrible service prevent you from enjoying this...
