very disappointed. I wont talk about how dirty it was or how good or bad service it was. very disappointed about food quality and price. yes this restaurant was my favorite place for pork soup when Koreans owned. I called in to place an order of 2 pork soups. When I called Chinese lady answered a phone and I could recognize it right away because of her accent which is not a problem at all but I had doubt that Chinese people in korean restaurant?? and when I was there for pick up everyone was Chinese. since then I started worry about my food. ok nevertheless I picked up my foods and had few spoons and I threw them out. couldn’t eat at all. first of all they are not understanding food properly. Ingredients were similar (doubting that they received a recipe when they were taking over business) but 1. taste of food was terrible. I bet they don’t know what they are making at all 2. quantity of quality of food. I do understand price of foods and ingredients went up due to covid but it doesn’t mean they can put just few slices of pork when they increased a price. If you are keeping same concept of restaurant and food please keep the same quality and effort. I do hope that all Winnipegers can experience a good...
Read moreI am a Korean for context. I know how Korean food should taste like at the minimum. This place is way below minimum. First, the soup is too bland, without any flavour, tastes more like water with red dye. Second, the ingredients are not fresh, the shrimp in the tofu soup was awful, and the clam and mussel tastes horrible. I don't expect fresh, but that doesn't mean it should be this bad. Third, our pork soup was 95% carrot and potato strips, with less then 5% meat. Fourth, the food took way too long to be served. We went at a very relaxed time, with only one other table ordering/waiting for food. Yet, our food took longer than 45 minutes to be served, and the group that ordered before us received their bibimbap after 1 hour(it's literally one of the easiest and fastest dishes that can be prepared). Worse still, they did not put any necessary sauces in the bibimbap like Gochujang and Sesame oil. Fifth, the food is so bad. The taste itself is awful. The group that ordered bibimbap only ate one spoon and left, for how awful it tasted, and the awful service. Summary, if you looking for actual Korean food, don't come here, it's not just disappointing, it is...
Read moreWe are Koreans who recently settled in Winnipeg. Having lived in North America for about 10 years, we’ve had a lot of experience with Korean food here.
I tried the Gamja Tang (spicy pork bone soup), and my wife ordered the Soondubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew). The Gamja Tang was quite good, but the Soondubu Jjigae was unfortunately very disappointing. To be honest, we weren't sure if we could even call it Soondubu Jjigae.
It seemed like the chef may not fully understand what Soondubu Jjigae is supposed to be. For example, the tofu used wasn’t the soft, silky kind traditionally used in this dish, and the spices were quite different from the usual pepper-based seasoning. It was also extremely spicy—we had to ask for a milder version.
My wife felt the dish was almost misleading, as it didn’t resemble Soondubu Jjigae at all. Of course, this is just our perspective as Koreans familiar with the authentic version, but we hope our feedback is helpful for others looking for traditional...
