An authentic northern Chinese cuisine in Winnipeg, delicious! most of the menu are quite spicy. Even me that can eat spicy, found it a little over the top for its spiciness. Some recommendations: Noodle of Stir Fried-Lamb with Cumin. Fish fillet soup And many others that I can't remember Xi-an hand-pulled noodles (cold /hot)
Service can be improved, but it was a long time ago when I came. I have been doing order for pick up since 2019 pandemic. I will update on service whenever dine-in is open again. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for this type of resto and cuisine quality.
UPDATE: They also have Sichuan, Xi-an and other central Chinese cuisine that is rare in this province. You have to go to the west coast (BC) to find this type of cuisine. I have tried: Deep fried green bean Fish fillet w/ pickled vegetable in sour broth Cold dish: Tofu w/ preserved eggs (on the picture) Cold dish: Gluten w/ chili...
Read moreSo good. So good. What a hidden gem. Came across this through Google Maps Latest updates features, and was intrigued by this.
Stopped by to try it and I am so happy I did. Everything was delicious. This is the real deal, if you’re looking for something authentic from China.
We ordered the fried green beans and the fried chicken in wok. The green beans satisfied my craving for green beans and the Sichuan spice was so nice. The fried chicken was deliciously crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, classic Chinese style.
They also gave us free tauhuey, 豆花(dou hua), tofu dessert — whatever you wanna call it, this is the real deal. I have been missing tau huey for so long and haven’t been able to find a real substitution in Canada for my $1 bowls I used to get at the hawker centre, and this hits the spot.
It’s smooth, soft, sweet, light and the texture is pure. Will be coming here again and recommending it to...
Read moreOverall, very authentic Chinese dining experience, but lackluster service and an unexpected menu made this dinner a bit tough to enjoy.
Pros: Very authentic Chinese menu, if you want stir fry and noodles, you got it.
Cons: While authentic, the menu was severely limited, with variations of the same dishes taking up the majority of the menu. The menu is quite hard to understand at times (which is expected, to a degree), harder than it should be. We were visited three times in total, once to get us the menus, once to take our order, and once to bring us the food. That's it. They never asked if we needed anything, nor checked if we needed the bill or a takeout.
It's good, but you should know what you're expecting. If you're going for a "western classics/favorites" type of Chinese meal (chicken balls, lemon chicken, veggies, etc.), you won't get that here, you will only get spicy noodles or...
