IHOP — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Initially, if I had completed this review back in March or April, I might have given iHOP Sterling Lyon a 2 star rating. We attended the restaurant and both the food and service were subpar. However, the reason for my increase in rating is twofold:

One, the way management handled the feedback. Their response was to gather more information so they could look in their system for the order information (I had lost the receipt), and then to approach the team involved to discuss options on how to improve off the feedback provided. Yes, they did offer us a giftcard for the value of our meal to return and have it recooked (as might have happened had we had the opportunity to speak to a manager at the time), but had that not been an offer, I still would have been impressed with the response from the Manager and Assistant Manager, both of whom show clear pride in what they are doing and the business they are trying to run; they want to coach their staff, they want to make customers happy and return, and they want feedback (including the good feedback we supplied on our return visit).

Two, the way staff on our return visit responded. They did not know that we were return customers who'd had an issue, but what they did do was take their job and the order seriously. They confirmed details, they introduced themselves, and every thing we commented on showed a marked improvement.

iHOP is not my favourite place for breakfast food in the city, some of their recipes are not to my liking, but they do their best to improve their service and want to do well by their customers, and I can...

We were here twice recently. The first experience (Saturday breakfast) was fantastic. Very busy but great service, great waitress, yummy food, and it arrived very quickly.

The second experience could have very nearly been 1-star but MATTHEW saved the day. He was a superstar waiter. I'll start by saying the possible 1-star was nothing Matthew could have controlled, but he is what saved it. It was Father's Day, the supper hour. Perhaps being more of a breakfast place it isn't as busy in the evenings, and it wasn't crazy busy. But considering Matthew was THE ONLY WAITER, he was positively run off his feet with multiple large groups. He smiled the entire time and ran to serve us all with excellence and speed. So friendly and outgoing.

Things that could have made it 1-star.... -there being one waiter -three items we tried to order from the menu were out -one daughter ordered Brisk lemonade and it was watery and flavourless. Matthew replaced it quickly with another option -they ran out of chocolate milk our kids wanted so 2 got it and 1 didn't, but again, Matthew was a superstar and looked after all our girls with other options when they wanted refills.

In the end, the food brought out was delicious and everyone was happy with their orders even though some of the first choice items hadn't been available.

What the hell is this IHOP!!!! We've been to Ihop several times in the United States this doesn't even come close!! Food was sloppy the food was cold the food tasted old it's disgusting we sad goes the kitchen and all we witnessed was a bunch of socializing and the workers there don't even take their job seriously and our food was sitting for like 20 minutes! The toast arrived completely cold and the butter wasn't even melted because it was sitting too long the eggs were runny inside and cold not even cook properly! They serve my pancakes in the smallest plate possible and they were dripping all over the floor and all over the table!!! My bacon tasted like beef jerky and dry you couldn't even eat it I have seen a previous review here the person had mold all over their food I will never ever go back I received a refund and they tried to call me after the refund and I wouldn't even answer the phone that's so disgusted I am!!
