Normally I LOVE JC tacos. The chicken enchiladas are my favourite! I convinced my work to order our lunch from here today and I wouldnāt shut up about how excited I was for my chicken enchilada. (My three vegetarian co workers couldnāt find an option on the skip app so they ordered from somewhere else. So that was disappointing) I have a mushroom allergy and weāve ordered from here or eaten in well over 30 times without issue. We tell them about it and the food is made accordingly. Unfortunately three bites in a see part of a mushroom. I tear apart the whole enchilada and thereās no more. Itās clearly an accident, but Iām shaking and scared Iām going to go into anaphylactic shock. All my co workers look at the piece of mushroom. Yes, we all agree. Itās a mushroom. You can see the gills in the darker part. One co worker took a tiny nibble. Yes itās a mushroom.
Iām not removing the 5th star for that. Accidents happen. Itās how they responded when I called the restaurant that dropped my rating. They flat out argued with me three times that there was no chance there was a mushroom in my enchilada. Next time I suggest you be more sympathetic and apologetic in this situation. I was expecting, āoh my gosh! Iām so sorry! We thought we were careful with your order. Please report it on the skip app.ā Instead of telling me the thing right in front of me is impossible. Especially when my life is on the line and Iām scared I might die or have to go to hospital.
I was so disappointed. I ended up eating dumb subway instead. I still love their enchiladas, but Iāll be very nervous to eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here with the wife for the first time. Saw the reviews and we were excited to try it. What a terrible dissapointment. I ordered the chorizo taco trio which was edible. The tortillas were dry and tough and very little meat in them. The cilantro slaw served with it was good and the rice was ok. Covered in hot sauce the tacos were alright but nothing special. The chicken empanadas were empty deep fried dough. They were nice and puffy but completely hollow. There were 2-3 tiny pieces of what I assumed was chicken stuck to the inside of the hollow empanada. I mean tiny, like half a centimeter in size. They were flavorless and expensive... $5 a piece for hollow dough?? It was almost $70 for 2 of us to eat there and we were both still hungry when we left. I would have left one star but they had those really good Mexican soft drinks which I love (even though they sell them for $4 a bottle...insert eye rolling...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThought Iād give this restaurant a try considering they have so many good reviews stating it was āauthentic Mexican foodā- but this is definitely far from it. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and the first red flag for me was their rice. It honestly looked and tasted like Uncle Benās microwaveable rice. The second red flag for me was the chicken inside the enchilada. It was definitely not seasoned or marinated. Overall the food was bland and disappointing. Iāve ate at almost all of the Mexican restaurants located here in Winnipeg, and unfortunately this place is not it. You might as well save a few dollars and go to Taco Bell because thatās what I would compare the quality of...
