Zax Drive Inn — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Me and my boyfriend went there as we went to JCs tacos which is on the opposite side of Henderson and had a horrible experience i didnt eat my food so we went to Zax been here a million times was always good experience and the food was good and filling. But walked over and ordered food waited for it then because I am currently pregnant I wanted to take a few bites before I left as my bf is opening up to check which wrap is which the cashier who was a brunette blue eyed woman who said we have to leave because we had a 600 ml Pepsi, that we weren’t even drinking or opening cuz it was warm. My bf said well she’s pregnant she was just trying to have a few bites and we will be on our way and she said no cant have outside drinks or food go put it in your car, mind you we walked from Jefferson & Main. I knew I was coming there because I wanted something specific and was looking forward to going there. I have been in the food industry and waitressed since I was 16 and was a bartender also after 18, I know theres rules but I didn’t see no signs and why would you NOT SAY something before we ordered a second wrap as well, I felt like it was like “give me your money and get out” I felt so disrespected and embarrassed and humiliated. That was extremely rude and unprofessional and very inhumane. We don’t think we will ever eat there ever again. Which is unfortunate because I was a big fan of there food and always spend over 25$ and tip. Being rude to a pregnant lady is how the staff at this establishment engage in that situation. Be careful if you have something from outside because they will wait till you order and pay for your food and only say something when there giving it to you! IVE NEVER been treated like that as a pregnant person and nor have I ever while working in the food industry over the years have I ever treated a pregnant person like that, I am appalled and extremely disappointed at what used to be a fine dining establishment and experience....

I placed an order for pick up Saturday 5 PM my order was two fat boys cheeseburger with no chilli and no onions when I went there my order wasn’t even taken One of the girls one of the girls yelled at the other one is I get that order in so I have to wait for another 15 minutes to get my order. Got my order went home opened up the burgers noticed the cheeseburger had chilli and onions So I called them they’re Told me to bring them back get my money back and I told him I’d have to go back-and-forth again to get the order straight. Well I decided to go back when I went back very rude to me telling me I’m a jerk and also telling me never to come there again terrible customer service don’t care about their customers. It looks like to me and also the cooks saying jerk to me terrible business don’t care about their customers never go back there again as I was a long time customer I don’t recommend them to anybody, but some people think they’re great. First of all, the food was pretty good!! Best summarized as good, but not special.

Second, the service was great! You could tell the employees seemed to enjoy being there, and cared about the service they provided - for the most part.

However there are some issues which cannot be over looked when it comes to this locale.

Most notably, when I ate inside almost all the tables were dirty, with food particles and other debris running rampant.

When using the washroom, I immediately noticed how dirty it was. There were numerous flies buzzing around, along with over flowing garbage, and a filthy sink. More importantly however - the door was not closed. Right across the small hallway was the entrance to the kitchen, once again not closed. This gives the flies a perfect avenue to go to the kitchen and eat their fill at essentially a buffet, then make the journey to the washroom, while also getting to hangout and chat with their neighbours there.
