I had my first dining experience there this week, it was less than stellar. We only chose this spot because our usual one was closed temporarily. By the time we got there we were already starving and in a bit of a rush. The restaurant was quiet yet service was incredibly slow.
We got our food orders in and didn't have to wait too long thankfully. However, the food was mostly disappointing. I had ordered some assorted tempura veggies and 3 different rolls.
The assorted tempura veggies were mostly yam and the order was 5pieces for $10 đ. They were very oil logged and heavy, definitely not cooked at the right temperature.
I had the Kyoto roll aka Phila roll (cream cheese, salmon etc). This was so salty it was almost inedible. No soy sauce needed for this roll. I'm not joking, I had 3 glasses of water while eating this roll! I'm pretty sure they had left skin on the salmon too because it was difficult to chew.
Next I had the Unakyu roll (eel, avocado, and cucumber etc). This roll is typically served with teriyaki sauce on the side. Here it was not. There was a sauce (didn't taste like teriyaki) poured over each piece which made eating it a real pain. The sauce seeped in as it wasn't reduced which just made the pieces fall apart when you picked them up. đ
The last roll I had was the California roll, and it's the only reason I'm giving the restaurant 2stars. The crab in the California roll was delicious, light and fluffy, and definitely not imitation. It was the best part of my whole meal.
Based on the taste, price for each item, and my experience it's likely not a sushi place I'd go back to. I've had far better food and service for a cheaper...
Read moreCame in for 9. They close at 10 and last calls are for 9:30. One of the girls (Hyog I believe her name was) refused to give us a booth regardless of the fact that it was empty and proceeded to tell us that someone had reserved that table for 9:30âŚeven though last call⌠is at 9:30? Okay fine. We order our rolls, one being red tuna (kamikaze) and one being scallop bakudan. There is a price difference and when given the rolls not only was the presentation mediocre but they both tasted and looked exactly the same. Asked the server what we ordered just to make sure it wasnât the same and she tells us that the kamikaze is not red tuna but yellow tuna. Itâs confusing why the menu says itâs red tuna when really itâs yellow tuna. Why they taste the same and looked exactly the same is still a mystery to me. Itâs a really cute place but super disappointed with this sit in. Would recommend going elsewhere.
EDIT: I really wish I read the reviews before I came here. All the bad reviews are dealt with them being defensive and not taking any sort of accountability. If that doesnât speak volumes about what they stand for and a red flag for their customer service then...
Read moreVisited on a whim as I was walking back to my hotel. I was alone and got seated in a totally separate room from all of the other diners and in the corner, it was fine but I just thought it was a bit strange. My â19ozâ draft pint as stated on the menu was more like a sad 12oz. I ordered the sashimi salad and some steamed rice. âAssortedâ sashimi is a stretch when you only include 2 kinds of fish. The amount of fish was disappointing. It looked like they took 2 pieces of sashimi MAX, and cut them into tiny cubes and spread them out all over the salad. Flavour was good, but the salad was merely empty, nothing but spring mix, dressing, the sad portion of fish, and a few pieces of cubed mango that was starting to go bad. Dumping my entire bowl of rice on the salad honestly saved it. However, the server was excellent and he was very polite, he did ask if I enjoyed the food and everything was ok. Which again, the flavour was good, and honestly I hadnât eaten all day so I wasnât going to complain about something I finished. But I do think the portion of...
