I'm dumbfounded by this "restaurant's" favourable review online. I must have had a terribly unique and isolated experience, but it was terrible nonetheless. After a fifteen minute wait in line behind three other customers -- one underskilled staff member was trying to manage the business while the other employees ate carry-out in the back -- I ordered the River City Brisket (the bestseller) and the Tofu Bann-Mi. I've had mouthwatering brisket from the American South and I've had incredibly flavourful bahn mi sandwiches on wonderfully textured baguettes. Perhaps it's my high standard for bread -- good bread needs no accompaniment -- that contributed to my disappointment upon tasting the extra thick-cut and flavourless, textureless bread (no, it's not made in house). Perhaps it's the fat-riddled, inadequately cooked brisket. The disappointments were many. I might have been willing to give King + Bannatyne a second chance had the staff not denied any accountability for the poor quality of their food. A good sandwich is all about balance: the right balance of ingredients and the right balance of flavours are why sandwiches are so universally loved; a good sandwich can be so memorable that it will remain as a standard to which all other sandwiches are judged. You will not find that...

Amazing sandwiches and exceptional service. We were attending Jazz Fest and wanted a sandwich so we went to King and Bannatyne. We opted to order a pickle with our sandwiches because we knew from previous visits that their pickles are excellent, but they forgot to put the pickle in our take out bag and we didn't notice. We left K&B to find a place to sit with our sandwiches and enjoy the Jazz Fest. A few minutes later, I notice the server from King and Bannatyne is walking through the crowd and seems like they're looking for something or someone. Then it hits me that they might be looking for me and I realize that they must have our forgotten pickle. I make eye contact with them and they wave to me. Not only did they bring our pickle, they also gave us some complimentary chocolate chip cookies. They could have just as easily said to themselves "oh well, they forgot their pickle" and put the onus on me to go back to ask about it; instead they decided to go the extra mile and search through a crowd of people to ensure that we got what we had asked for. I will definitely be back to King and Bannatyne because they have great sandwiches and a high degree of integrity. Many kudos to you folks at King...

This spot was an unexpected GEM!! We were in from out of town and the concierge recommended it. Couldn't be happier they you did! Apparently they just started serving Breakfast and I am so glad they did because it was OUTSTANDING! I've been to places like Eggslut etc. And these guys are absolutely killing it!! Their Egg Sandwiches we're so on point. Soft Scramble was next level and we got their sides to go with. Breakfast Potatoes reminded me of a Patatas Bravas and the Fruit Skewers we're done up like street corn coated in a super tasty sesame almond granola. And the orange juice... my God the OJ. It's sweetened with a Thai Basil simple syrup and served with a small splash of soda to liven it up. So tasty. I loved that it was quick and simple. Great start to the day. The staff were unbelievably nice as well! Good way to start the Morning. Check it out if you haven't...

On road trips I try to sample local sandwich shops. This one came highly recommended per reviews. Originally wanted to try Hoagie Boyz but they were closed on Monday. I’m glad they were because I would’ve missed out on one of the best places I’ve been to. I couldn’t decide which sandwich to get and I saw them putting the cheese sauce on a sandwich they were making for someone else. Can’t say no to cheese sauce. That turned out to be the Philly sandwich! I was intrigued by the smoked Buffalo chicken so I got both. One for lunch one for later. Exceptional flavour. The bread was so soft and fresh. Unbelievable. A little pricy but you get what you pay for. I opted for their jalapeño Mac n cheese. It was alright. Their coleslaw was outta world. Hella fresh and packed with flavour. When I’m in Winnipeg again I’m definitely stopping by again.

(My wife ordering) "I'm not a beer person, do you have anything else other than beer?" "Yup, we have wine" "Could I try the ______? (Glass of wine)" "Actually, we're out" "Do you have rum?" "No, we don't. But we have vodka" "Could I get a vodka/cran?" "No, we don't have cranberry juice" Couldn't help myself from laughing out loud. Anyways, first time visit for my wife and I and was during Le Burger week. Pretty annoyed that they don't serve fries. But their burger special was pretty awesome. Just imagine a Big Mac - but 10 times better. Price was steep, $19 for a burger alone, whereas other restaurants offer a side with their burger special for the same price. But really good burger, pretty good customer service. Fair first time experience.

First time trying this place after hearing good things for years. It's.......ok. The Reuben was good, but not $18.75 good. The potato salad was decent. The "famous pickle" was disappointing. It should honestly just be served with the sandwiches for free. The Generic Lager is exactly how it sounds....but if somebody orders a pint, let's fill the glass with beer not foam. Look....im still giving a 4 star review here, but in the end I spent about $35 on a sandwich, potato salad, 1 pickle, and 3/4 of a pint of beer....seems a bit much.
