edit returned to try their new menu. We ordered the following: Sir Jons breakfast $12 Tastes like an alcoholic iced coffee. Would be a perfect summer morning replacement for coffee and baileys if someone wants something stronger. The whiskey taste comes through and really blends well with the espresso and the maple syrup really helps add some sweetness yet simultaneously getting rid of the bitter taste that usually accompanies espresso. You don't get a lot of tea flavour as it is more overpowered by coffee but it's a really nice take and if someone doesn't like whiskey or is new to it this is still a really nice option as the whiskey taste is more mild. Earl Grey on Safari $12 (I don't have notes on this but I remember we thought it was good) The tea comes with this hourglass timer so you can figure out the perfect amount of time to steep for. They are well known for their beef tartare $17 as it was on Tourism Winnipegs top 20 things to try and do in Winnipeg. There are 3 kinds of onions with 3 different preparations. there is also cured egg yolk shavings which is interesting added on top. We also had the Dr Pepper pork belly with Brussels sprouts, baby potato xo salad, granny smith apples and mustard seeds. Perfectly prepared. $17 Tuna Franchesaca 4.0 $18. It is torched tuna, cucumber, black garlic salsa verde, roe and charcoal chips. I am guessing they will have a rotating menu, though maybe not as frequent as the nonsuch. Chef Frank was very nice and explained everything when we asked.
Great first date place. It is a Fantastic tea shop with an owner who is passionate and well versed in his craft. The food was also beautiful and more importantly, tasted great.
We spent some time talking to the chef. He knows his food very well and a lot of thought goes into it.
Pro tip: there are hooks everywhere to put your bag up near the bar. I took a picture of 2 places.
Pro tip2: if there is something you had before and it's no longer on the menu, ask about it. The people who work there are very accommodating. If they can make it they probably will.
Parking is available on the street and in a lot nearby which is where we parked for lunch. IT is an archaic machine that only takes coins, but I was also told sometimes it doesn't spit...

Our recent visit to Amsterdam Tea Room and Bar was a delightful experience, marked by outstanding service and impressive mixology. While our initial encounter with the "International Affair" cocktail proved a bit too strong for our table of seven, the staff's response was truly commendable.
Our server, Nicole, despite it being only her second week, was an absolute standout. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and knowledge of the drink menu were remarkable. She was present without being intrusive, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
When we shared our feedback about the cocktail's strength, Nicole handled the situation with grace and efficiency. She promptly relayed our concerns to the mixologist, Amber, who then stepped in and showcased her expertise. Amber's first attempt at adjusting the drink was nothing short of stunning. She managed to craft a version that perfectly balanced the flavors and satisfied the diverse palates of our entire group. It was a testament to her skill and creativity behind the bar.
While the initial cocktail wasn't a perfect match for our group, the exceptional service from Nicole and the impressive recovery by Amber turned the experience into a positive one. We were thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. Amsterdam Tea Room and Bar clearly values its staff and empowers them to provide top-notch customer service. We would happily return and recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've gone to the Amsterdam Tea Room several times. The food has always been great. Yesterday the service was worse than atrocious. I went in alone and ordered a stout and s risotto. I decided to order hummus as well. The server was great. The restaurant was not busy. Another employee came by and started clearing the table while I was still eating and had about 10 oz of stout left in my glass. He came back again, and tried to take my plate. I told him I was not finished. He bent down, got into my face, and asked if my original server had not told me that there were 5pm reservations. I said that they had not, and that I would be gone long before 5pm. I paid for my meal ($58. + tip), and went to the washroom before leaving. I had just got in there when I heard someone try the door. I was washing my hands when the pounding on the door started. I had been in there less than 2.5 minutes. I opened the door to find another male employee clearly about to unlock the door on me. I was livid. Perhaps this restaurant would do better to...
