Pretty confusing experience. Walked in, server looked at us, guy behind the bar looked at us, and another woman behind the bar looked at us. No "be right there" or "sit wherever you like". No one spoke to us. Stood there for 5 minutes before I got impatient and picked a nice two top with some leg room and not in the way. Before I could even sit down the guy behind the bar came out and said to sit at a table by the kitchen because a party might sit where I had selected. Meanwhile, he spoke to a solo diner in french, seated at an entire table of 4 by himself with his full spread of morning papers and plate. The table was pretty poor. Right by the kitchen with bright lights and having to lean forward in my chair everytime the server passed behind me. I wasn't impressed by how this place was ran. I received pretty tiered treatment as evidence by the diner behind me and the guy then getting up to greet a couple at the front after I had sat down. I'm sure the food is good and the service is attentive if you know someone here. I...
Read moreLa crêperie is easily among the finest coffee shops Winnipeg has to offer! The shop is beautifully decorated with French touches. The presentation of the coffee drinks alone is worth 5 stars. The cappuccino is served in a ceramic cup with a biscuit and 2 cubes of sugar on the side. Fancy!! Now to the star of the show... The crepe! Soft, savory, buttery, and with the runny egg yolk in the center, coupled with the high quality ingredients of cheeses and hams, needless to say I had the best crepe I've ever had anywhere. From the chit chat with the owner I also found out that they are actually from the Brittany region of France which is like the birthplace of crepes! So yeah... That blew my mind! I don't have to travel to France to have authentic crepes anymore. That can be found right here, in the heart of Winnipeg!

Read moreWe had a late brunch at La Crêperie Ker Breizh on Tuesday afternoon. The place has lovely ambiance with delightful cultural touches to the decor. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. We were served by one of the owners of the restaurant. She was very lovely and friendly and took some time to answer our questions about what brought her and her husband to Canada. We had La Super Complète , Croque Monsieur, La Poissonnière and for dessert the Brioche Perdue. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. Many of the offerings are locally sourced. The Velvet Hammer coffee (from Jacked up Jill coffee in Headingly , MB) was amazing as well as the hot chocolate. We ended up buying some of the coffee beans to take home. There were many little touches that added a special feel to the meal . Menu has lots of variety and is very reasonably priced. Highly recommend...
