As a Brit now living in Winnipeg for the past 20 years, I used to go to this place every couple of weeks for pasties, sausage rolls, pork pies, black pudding and scotch eggs. They even had bacon that was back bacon but tasted like British bacon that I couldn't get anywhere else. Since the new owners took over, the quality of the food has gone down drastically. The sausage rolls and pasties have a watery paste like substance inside that's gross. They don't have pork pies and more, nor scotch eggs, and the last couple times I was there they didn't have black pudding either. They also don't have the much loved bacon I loved so much. The new owners have upped the price on pretty much everything by $5 at least, and what they did have was tasteless. I got a steak and kidney pie last week that was less than a quarter full, seemed to contain zero kidney, and the steak was grey in colour and dry. I had two bites and threw the rest in the trash. I can’t recommend this place enough – their steak and mushroom pie was simply outstanding. The pastry was golden, flaky, and perfectly buttery, while the filling was rich, hearty, and packed with tender chunks of steak and earthy mushrooms in a savory gravy.
