I recently had the pleasure of dining at Peg’s Bistro – The Stir Fry House on Regent Avenue in Winnipeg during a Friday lunch, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish.
Build-Your-Own Stir Fry Experience
Peg’s Bistro offers a unique and interactive dining experience with their customizable stir-fry bowls. The process is straightforward and enjoyable: Choose Your Base: Select from a variety of noodles or rice. Pick Your Veggies: A fresh assortment of vegetables is available. Select Your Protein: Options include chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, or a combination. Add Your Sauce: A range of flavorful sauces to suit every palate. Top It Off: Finish with your choice of toppings.
The staff were incredibly helpful, guiding me through each step and offering suggestions to enhance the flavor profile of my bowl. The stir-fry was cooked right in front of me, ensuring freshness and allowing me to see the care put into each dish.
Generous Portions and Flavorful Dishes
The portion sizes at Peg’s Bistro are notably generous. I opted for a regular-sized bowl, and it was more than sufficient, leaving me satisfied and even with leftovers for later. The combination of fresh ingredients and expertly balanced sauces resulted in a dish that was both hearty and flavorful.
Inviting Atmosphere and Friendly Staff
The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, with tasteful decor that adds to the dining experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest felt valued and comfortable. Their willingness to accommodate dietary preferences and spice levels made the meal even more enjoyable.

Read moreThis place is very yummy. I’m satisfied with the gluten-friendly options; I have been here twice now and I haven’t gotten sick lol. They have rice noodles or rice as a base for the stir fry, and both options are good. And they use a clean section if the grill to cook the gluten free food on. I have a gluten sensitivity, so these things are important to me. They have a ton of options for creating your own bowl, or you can choose one of their recipes they have on the board. The layout of the restaurant is like subway for stir fry. It’s a brilliant idea, and there should be more of these types of restaurants around.
Probably my only critique is that when I asked what a sauce tasted like, their only answer was “spicy,” and they couldn’t really describe to me the flavour profile of the sauce otherwise. (Like was it sweet, vinegar-y, earthy, what other flavours did it have going on besides “spicy”?) But this isn’t worth taking a star off or anything because they put a little bit of the sauce onto a fork and let me try it for myself. So clearly they’re willing to work with their customers to find answers, which means a lot!
Oh, and if you are worried about portion sizes? No need to fret. I always have plenty of leftovers.
This place is delicious, has gluten-friendly options, friendly staff and good portions. I’m already a repeat customer and I’ll probably continue to be.

Read moreFrom the time we entered, to ordering, to enjoying our meal and till we left; we were met with 3 staff who were excellent with their communication, customer service and were friendly. They made recommendations to us when we were selecting our meals and repeated things to us if we had any questions. Our food was excellent, hot off the stove and the flavor was 10/10 (I have no idea which sauces I all got in the moment but the combination was amazing). The staff at this location clearly care about their work and it’s been a long time we’ve been somewhere that had this level of customer service and caring for the customer experience. Not to mention, we were the only customers and yet the staff looked busy cleaning, tending to their tasks and still checked in with us several times asking how we liked our food. They also were friendly when we were leaving the restaurant, we didn’t have to ask for a takeout bag and were offered one without prompts. If we have any critiques they are that the music was a bit loud right at the counter when ordering (the speaker seemed to be close to the counter) and that the theme of the restaurant is a little bit odd with the black light and dark paint/wall art but that’s personal preference more so. Overall, we’d give this restaurant a 10/10 for experience and the food was...
