The Brief: Great service, great vibes and the food is incredible. I highly recommend coming here and seeing and tasting for yourself. Jimmy was out server and they were incredible. The Long: There are a lot of good East Indian food establishments in Winnipeg so It's been a long time since I had authentic East Indian food that made me go "Damn, this is great" and Copper Chimney delivers. We came here with a small group not sure what to expect, and we've been meaning to come for a long time. We were almost immediately greeted by some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a restaurant ever, anywhere, which stun locked me I wasn't sure how to react. We were sat promptly and greeted at the table by our server. We were given menus and had time to go through it. Our server was super patient with us as we went over everything and they had some feedback and suggestions themselves, it was helpful. I went with a classic, Butter chicken, and my partner went with the Chicken Thali platter. I can speak to the Butter Chicken being bang on, it was flavorful, the chicken was falling apart and the spice level was perfect. I went with Medium. I was super happy with it and I'm now sad that it's gone, I was tempted to order some to go... My partner enjoyed the platter and they loved the variety of everything in there. It was a great value of menu items, she ended up sharing it was a lot and needed to pack it up to go, where we received some great to go containers to pack it up, nothing was missed. I need to make sure I do get this one point across. The service was outstanding, it was top notch and the best marks I can possibly give. I cannot express how good the service was here. Overall this was an incredible experience, the food was banger, the service was top tier and it was an overall enjoyable experience. Looking forward to coming again. I had a very interesting experience to say the least. First of all, the food was extremely tasty. I highly recommend the vegetable pakora in addition to the butter chicken and basmati rice. I ran into a couple of issues though while enjoying my first experience at this restaurant. There is some kind of electrical issue with the building that is causing the lights to flicker and I would not suggest anybody who deals with epilepsy to attend this location. The negative part of my visit involved biting into a piece of naan bread and quickly realizing that there was something extremely sharp now in my mouth. It was either some type of bone with a very pointy tip or some type of really hard plastic that had a sharp pointy tip on it. It ended up puncturing part of my gums and I reported it to my server immediately. I have also attached a picture of this sharp object should you wish to reference it in my pictures. I decided during my visit to get a refill on my coke and upon receiving the bill I quickly discovered that there are no free refills at this location despite each glass of coke costing $3 per glass. As a result, please be warned about the rate in which you choose to enjoy your soft drink should you decide to order one. The serving staff was very attentive, as well as professional. Regarding the atmosphere, despite the situation with the lights the music was at a perfect volume and created a wonderful ambiance. Overall, I would suggest trying the food here but certainly with a bit of caution.

Copper Chimney at Regent Avenue presents an exceptional culinary experience in an expansive and meticulously clean establishment. Having visited for a Saturday lunch with family, I was delighted to find the restaurant relatively tranquil, offering a serene atmosphere ideal for a leisurely meal. The choice to dine here was prompted by my son’s recommendation, a decision I now wholeheartedly endorse. As a self-professed food connoisseur, I found the offerings to be commendable. The North Indian fare, in particular, stood out as extraordinarily fresh and authentically prepared, each dish showcasing the rich, intricate flavors that define the region’s celebrated cuisine. Every bite was a testament to their commitment to culinary excellence. While Copper Chimney predominantly specializes in North Indian dishes, I was pleasantly surprised by the South Indian offerings, which, while not exceptional, were certainly competent and well-executed. The service was another highlight of our visit. The team, especially the gracious Raj, demonstrated exceptional attentiveness, kindness, and an impeccable sense of hospitality. Raj’s efforts to ensure our comfort did not go unnoticed; her charm and genuine care truly enhanced the dining experience. In summary, Copper Chimney provides a delightful combination of authentic North Indian cuisine and warm, attentive service. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a refined, yet relaxed, dining experience.

update August 16, 2025

My father and my mom came with a friend (Air Canada flights delayed) for her we discovered mild is no chili power ever. oops but we taught her to put the mild on rice to mellow it out. Second we Learned today that the garlic yogurt (not spicy is often spooned in a small bit at a time till right level of mild for you. there hot is very. nice .. for some it might be a barn burner if not used to it. but for me it tastes like they use kashmiri chill powder like I use at home it. I will even use in chilli as the added flavor it provides. I used to buy the big bags on Amazon. but still recovering from an injury at work.

Again, I just wanted to say just how amazing this restaurant is. The staff are super friendly courteous and knowledgeable about the cuisine.

The food was absolutely amazing I would recommend it over the ivory.

The platter if your not sure and would like a bit of everything with your main dish. Is huge and more than enough.. wear loose pants. even the almost 3yrs since it opened we wish we could afford to go more often. even my Daughter love the butter chicken she's an expert on her rice to butter chicken to bring to her level of spice.

My wife and daughter ordered the butter chicken platter as did I and I ordered the goat.

aug16: I was in the mood for hot so I had the hot butter chicken platter. it was just right. wife and daughter creatures of habit had the butter chicken platters.

everyone in my group loved it as it being easy Indian food (he loved it) has decided we're all going back in about 2 weeks.

We all felt it was amazing. again plus 3 more. they so agree.

My daughter wants us to come back everyday to try something new. (She is not even a teen yet)

If a bit spicy mix with the abundant serving of rice also provided it lowers the heat.

Definitely will be coming back again.

Price point - update Aug 16, 2025 still about the same, might have seen one or two minor increase but nothing like other places.

update Aug 16,2025 it is still .at e the best place for a date even on a budget if you can afford a double quarter meal come save some money. with quality, food and value rare these days. also zero shrink flatiron.. don't walk but run to heathier food with true value for what you get. original, is excellent especially for a nice date on limited funds. amazingly your probably paying the same as a double quarter pounder meal. For your platter and then adding a drink. If you dive into extra appetizers and add on's the price can go up.

But it is absolutely worth it. If your tummy has the room and it won't hurt your wallet too much for a special night out.

I have already recommended to my family

update Aug, 16, 2025 this is the first time with extended family has come with us and they loved it!!❤️❤️❤️

if mild is abit spicy, now if you have the platter then you can use the yogurt that comes to reduce or even put it on the rice and that helps to.

absolutely recommend and will absolutely be going again. may be will see you there.

Cheers!! you're still amazing! August 16th...

Myself and my friend agreed to a 2 out of 5 stars for this restaurant. When you walk in, it has the classic Perkins look, the food in the display case and the toy machines in the front. We were quick to be seated and we observed maybe 3 other tables for breakfast. Upon ordering I had my young daughter with me, we got our drinks and she got to coloring. Me and my friend chatted for a while and before we knew it my daughter had colored both sides of the paper which I knew we had been waiting a good while. She asked where our food was, then about 5 minutes after that the food came. I ordered a breakfast burrito, the flavor itself was good. My only complaint was that the chicken was "sharp" overcooked. My daughter didn't eat very much, her bacon looked almost black and complained later on after while we were shopping she was hungry. I guess it was a good thing kids ate free that day. My friends food, they asked for a medium well cook on the eggs. The eggs were cooked soft, it grossed them out and the eggs were soaking into the other food items. Their bacon too looked overcooked, but worst of all was the sausage. The sausage was so overcooked it was like charcoal in the middle. My friend ate the "good bits" off of it and that was that. We heard behind us a table that was complaining about overcooked fish, so I knew that this was probably a common thing. The waitress was kind and I did feel bad for her since it wasn't her fault after all. I left her a nice tip and headed to the bathroom before leaving, to put it simple, the bathroom was extremely gross. The lack of a lock on one stall made someone push toilet paper into a spot that filled up the hole. This was the first and last time myself or my friend definitely will come to dine, hopefully for others the food...
