would like to share my most recent visit to this location and will be my last. My fiancé & I came at about 8:15pm for a late dinner after some errands and didn’t feel like dishes. I ordered the chicken parm w/ a side ceaser salad. my partner ordered a quesadilla w/ fries.
During our waiting period we were really dissatisfied with the atmosphere as most if not all the staff were cleaning the restaurant, and I mean really deep cleaning the restaurant. Flipping tables over, sweeping isles and even vacuuming isles, next to guests may I ad. Which really kills the mood in my opinion. Also very disrespectful and quiet obnoxious. I didn’t come here to listen to the staff holler at one another discussing cleaning tasks and vacuuming at now roughly 8:30pm. Keep in mind there are still multiple tables occupied and the place does not close untill 11pm. A bit early to be cleaning around guests. This discourages them from enjoying their meals in satisfactory time period that doesn’t make them feel rushed.
After waiting 30 min for our food… It finally comes. The chicken parm that i ordered comes with garlic mash, veggies, garlic bread and of course the main dish “chicken parm” My chicken parm was 2 small nuggets of chicken with plastic like cheese over top that wasn’t even melted all the way, and to my surprise absolutely no red sauce. Look i’m not food critic but I think its supposed to come with that. Or even pasta at the base in some cases. Neither were present here. The garlic mash was absolutely smothered in gravy… (It doesn’t say it comes with Gravy) and some people aren’t a fan of gravy (me included, s o r r y) Nor was there garlic bread. So… I was disappointed and I just asked for them to take it back and take it off our bill cause at this point it was just getting a bit overwhelming how unappealing the atmosphere was.
We aren’t even finished, My partner never got the fries that they ordered so we asked for that to be taken off the bill as well, the server complied to each of out requests. We tipped her 18% regardless and left. We got 2 drinks, a salad and quesadilla and it totaled $30.00 But seriously…This really makes you question why things even happen in the...
Read moreSals is one of my favourite places to go to if I don’t know where else to eat. I’ve been going to this specific location for years, I’d probably say 6 years and ongoing. I usually dine in for the majority and haven’t had a problem with their food or service. I find that when you dine in-person the service is pretty great and portion sizes are huge. However, that doesn’t translate well when you order takeout/to-go. Recently ordered the “Meat Eater”skillet and unfortunately was met with huge disappointment. I’ve ordered it for dine in before and had to get a to-go box as the portions were huge, and I happily had leftovers. I understand with takeout, the portion sizes may differ, and I’ve taken out food from this location during COVID and there would be slight changes in the portions for their “Supreme Hearty Breakfast” & “Homestyle Breakfast”, nonetheless I’d be satisfied with the given portions. Imagine my surprise when I open my to-go bag to see what supposedly is the “Meat Eater” skillet that costs about $15 to be the size of my hand (emphasize on one hand). I like to note that I’ve got quite the small hands. I’ve also ordered their red velvet cake and found that to be a bigger portion than what’s suppose to be a skillet size omelette. Like seriously, the box they gave me was the same box I had asked for after having leftovers from when I ordered the same skillet for dine in. There’s just no way I just paid $15 for the SMALLEST portion of food I’ve ever ordered. It feels like I was just given the leftovers as to go. This is barely an omelette and there is no way this was made with 2 large eggs. I mean I was so flabbergasted I had to call and ask if this is actually the size of the to-go over the phone and they confirmed that it was and nothing was done. At the price point, I was better off buying a carton of eggs and a bag of potatoes for the price I paid for two bites worth of an omelette. Extremely disappointing after coming home from a long shift at work, haven’t eaten all day, and all I get was a solid 2 bites worth of food, ridiculous. I’ve provided photos for reference as I couldn’t believe what the heck...
Read moreI showed up at about 11:25am on a Wednesday to meet my uncle for lunch. There was a bit of a lineup, but that was to be expected. I was the second name written down. For some reason the hostess started calling out names in the wrong order (all of the names called were parties of 2 or 3). Finally, after 3 names who had come after me were called I went and said something to the hostess. She apologized, but I could see the list and was confused on how my name hadn’t been called (there was an obvious order, and called names were crossed off). All of the parties before me were being seated at 4 person tables/booths, so it was not a table to party size reason.
The restaurant did not seem that busy, as people had trickled in and trickled out. We waited for a considerable time between being seated, ordering and then receiving our food.
I had a French onion soup, which was delicious! I also had a side Caesar salad; The salad was adequate. My uncle ordered a crispy chicken sandwich. It came out very over deep-fried - visually noticeable. He had 2 or 3 small bites (less than a quarter of the sandwich) before informing the server. Due to how long the food took to come out and how infrequent our server came by, my uncle said he was done with it and explained why. Sals did fully comp his meal, but to me that was the obvious bare minimum.
I am not eager to go back, but I would...
