I’ve never had a bad sals expirence, I love the breakfast here and the price is right! I had plans to meet with a friend to study so we figured the sals on fermor was in between both our places so it would be best, assuming it would be like all of the others calm, relaxed, sweet staff and attentive. I was very wrong about this sals. We got here and the fryer wasn’t working, understandable things happen, once we ordered and recieved our food it was like we were not longer customers here. We had mentioned at the beginging we would be here for a while and would most likely order something a little later as we will be studying and probably need a snack. Once we recieved our food 1st problem was the hair we found in our food. Our server took forever to check in with us and only had checked in twice the WHOLE time we were here. I usually like to start with water and order a drink later on however this wasn’t possible as it felt like the server was annoyed and avoiding us. We got water at the start of our meal and never had refills after that and did not have the opportunity to even ask because again we felt like we were being avoided. Knowing the manager was here didn’t make the situation better as she too never checked in with us nor did any of the other staff. So as I sit here waiting for my server to ask if I would like more water or anything else maybe even offer to get my bill i write this review I’m thirsty, a little angry and very disappointed. wanting ice cream in which I will take my business to DQ down the street I’m sure they will ask if I would like more water.
P.S: as we were leaving we walked up to the register to pay where our server was standing with a donut in one had and her mouth, the lady in which I assumed was the manager was also standing there and carrying on a conversation that I would say wasn’t appropriate for work atleast not in front of customers. Not only did they both blatently ignore us when we got to the counter it took them about a minute to say they just need a second. While the server stood there eating and looking at us. They didn’t ask us how our meal was or if our expirence was good. We just continued to have a bad expirence all around and I probably will never step foot into...
Read more4 stars is for the Service & in hopes that this location will get back to its past high standards that an often weekly Customer has come to expect. Service excellent! Food is tasty. Ordered the Salisbury steak that I have ordered for over 20 years at this location. About half the size, assuming due to ""Shrinkflation". Fried Onions used to be on top, now placed on the side to hide the size. Less than half of the fried onions as well. Hashbrowns were mushy and a lot less than in the past. $20 is very expensive for a tiny hamburger steak & Note the photo has a whole side order of chili to the right of the Sals Steak. About Extra $3. Does this look like a $30 meal? This is off the regular menu, not a promo or Seniors meal. Fills about half the plate. Hamburger, potatoes, & onions are not that expensive. This was also the case with the $20 blueberry pancakes we used to get for years. Down from 3 large pancakes to 3 very small ones. Sals is a community Manitoba grown icon that prides itself on value & affordability. Very disappointing to reduce size to this extent. Like tricking long term customers that have grown used to these standards & Community values. Total bill $31.53 with a pepsi & tip. I previously addressed the small $20 pancakes and was given the old size saying that they accidentally gave us the "side order" size. Same thing happened again the next visit. Hoping Sals Canada will see this & bring back the Community values, consistency, & quality we all know them for. Hoping this Winnipeg location doesn't "shrink" themselves out of business. So sad, was always so exceptional in the past. Add a couple extra bucks to the price during these times and being honest would...
Read moreI normally LOVE this location. In fact I believe I’ve applied for work here. BUT I was so unhappy with our service on Tuesday, March 7 around 1:30 pm. The server was very nice and knowledgeable which I appreciated but after she took our order she just sort of disappeared. I saw our food sitting in the window for 10 mins which should NEVER happen. A woman who was not our server had to bring us our food which is fine if our server was busy but she never even came to our table. My boyfriend had chicken fingers and a Caesar salad and the chicken fingers were dry on the inside and soggy breading which was awful. I tried them myself. His salad was okay he said but the croutons were stale! I had the cod and chips which would have been delicious if the cod wasn’t flavourless. The coleslaw was great. But that didn’t make up for the lack of service. Our server never even came to check on us at all. Another sever had to give us our bill. And even when it was time for us to go, I stood at the checkout counter for the longest time before even being acknowledged. I understand when you’re busy, but how hard is it to just say “I’ll be right with you”? Seriously? It could’ve been so easy to just walk out. But we did not because we are respectful people. My boyfriend manages a restaurant and he was very disappointed in the service and the food which has otherwise always been very good. Please address this asap. I’m honestly not sure I even want to go back as the food didn’t make me feel very...
