German Society of Winnipeg/Schnitzel Haus We weren't planning on visiting the Schnitzel Haus but rather the downstairs restaurant for Taco Week. The parking is in the back of the building and there was ample room to park when we went 7pm on a Friday night. Once you enter in the back of the building there is a staircase. You go up the staircase and the restaurant is on the left, the washrooms are on the right. They have a good selection of beer and a decent menu. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had the Chicken Schnitzel which came with red cabbage and spatzle. We also had the Bratwurst which also had the cabbage and spatzle. We also tried the hand cut veggies with butter and caraway seeds. The Schnitzel was cooked perfect and was juicy and tender. The Jäger sauce had a delicious mushroom and bacon flavour. The Bratwurst tasted great, both tender and juicy. Overall it's a great place with tons of character.

Nice evening out in Winnipeg. Great menu - reminds me of all the good foods we had at Oktoberfest in München a few years ago. Bratwurst was perfectly done on a bed of sauerkraut. The spatzle was very good - interesting flavours. We shared a plate of handcut veggies with butter and caraway seeds on top - was very nice. We also had the chicken schnitzel- very nice with the bacon and mushroom sauce. The radler with raspberry flavouring was excellent - would totally recommend this. Nice decor and ambiance in this restaurant - its upstairs in the German society of Winnipeg - entrance is at the back of the building.

Fantastic food including schnitzel, spaetzle, bratwurst, red cabbage and assorted tortes. Very welcoming, friendly staff and the entertainment at Folklorama 50 was fun, including traditional and contemporary music by the band and dancers.

Had my wedding ceremony and social here. My oma was a member before her passing and was one reason i wanted to have everything there. We also enjoyed the german folklorama. Bartending staff lacked complete customer service were completley rude. After ceremony every one was basically demanded to leave as they needed to shut doors for 4:30( which we were aware of) but it wasnt 430 yet. In the process the lady who opened the doors slammed the doors shut slamming it on my cousins 3yr olds fingers. While we were setting up prior to ceremony the day before i cleaned the kitchen of fruit flies coming up from their kitchen sink. As i was leaving my social food there over night. When it came to social time we had rented the upper hall and balcony and paid for a 3rd bartender. Upper balcony had a bar which according to contract would be open but it wasnt . We were to have a security also included in our contract wasnt provided. When 1 am rolled around we werent told more of demanded we needed to be our by 2 am ( which once again we knew) we had family around to help which we were not told but more demanded they needed to leave. We were then shouted at that if we werent out by 2 am we were going to be charged x amount for going over which again was 45 mins away. Then the lady went thru and once again vocal tone is key here. We werent asked more of demanded certian things be done which were in process of doing . But we were told we could leave our booze and pick up later not a chance in hell i would do that. So we got everything rushed cleaned , garbage out, booze out with 15 mins to spare. Between my mother, sister and myself we have 25+years of experience in the hospitality industry we have nevee treated any one like this or worked in a venue that treated customers like this.

Office staff and resturnant staff were wonderful and very helpful with hall entry and ect for setting up. Bar tending staff horrible. Thought maybe it was a personal issue with the bartending staff had with the colours of some of my family members as racial slurs had been made at a different work place. ( my sister is also a bartender at a different establishment and worked with one of the german club barteders) but reading these reviews it seems they just lack whats needed for the job at hand. Every one at our party loved the club. I recomend the club resturant but not renting the hall untill other bartending staff are hired or current ones learn customer service.

Also they were first line when late lunch came around. One big no no. Venue staff never eats untill 1.offered 2. Theres...

It's an interesting old bilding and not a bad place for a social. However the staff bartending were sour and extremely unkind. A poor representation for the club. No matter how kind you were to them they had a constant grouchy look on all 3 of their faces. They helped themselves to the social food and closed down the bar 15 minutes before the 1:00am last call. And proceeded to tell at the bride and guests when they complained. They openly lied to us saying they ran out of booze when we had seen it seconds earlier. Not sure where these people were hired from but bartending is defiantly not the job for them. Actually anything involving customer service they should probably avoid.

Would recommend not having a function here until they hire new staff. Unless you enjoy being ripped off and treated...
