unfortunately, a very disappointing dining experience.
my wife had ordered the salmon katsu and had written that in the description of the order form, though she had the number for the chicken katsu in the item number column.
this passed how many hands before anyone thought to confirm if my wife wanted chicken or salmon (server line supervisor calling on line line staff on pan station expediter)?
four points of contact to confirm before the item even touched the table.
my son & i had finished our items and my wife had lost her appetite.
most disappointing was that the server who ran my wife’s item to our table - upon being informed that she had ordered the salmon - proceeded to tell my wife that she had written salmon katsu but also wrote the number for the chicken...
...which really should have been confirmed before the pan station even started the katsu.
the remake had taken 20-25m to arrive at our table & we had finished our meals so she asked our server to cancel the katsu and i went to pay at the counter.
as i was paying, the other server came out with the salmon katsu my wife had cancelled and she reiterated that she had cancelled the order.
when i looked at our bill, they had charged us for the salmon katsu, the side of cold rice that sat waiting and the pop my wife had ordered with her meal.
i asked the counter staff to remove the items from the bill because i could not fathom why they would still charge for those items.
no apology was offered.
sushi plus could have saved their food cost (two protein dishes), guaranteed a repeat visit, saved their frontline staff from the obviously uncomfortable situation and prevented a negative google review if the proper steps of service were followed
this is not the first incident.
we had actually stopped coming because a previous takeout order had been incorrect but we decided to return because it’s in the neighbourhood.
two incidents in the span of six months and i imagine these are not isolated incidents because if it can happen to us twice, i doubt it has never happened.
again, very disappointing and we are definitely...
Read moreWent here for an early dinner with a few friends to try out this sushi restaurant that we’d never been to before. We were greeted right away by a gentleman and seated immediately. The restaurant was empty aside from one other group. It wasn’t long after that I had realized how dirty the restaurant was. The carpets were filthy and falling apart in areas, the coffee station that was in the dining area didn’t look like it has been wiped down in weeks and old coffee splatters all down the cupboards. The menus were sheets of paper (which isn’t a problem) but they were ripped, and stained with food from previous patrons. The curtain on the way to the bathrooms looked stained and greasy as if they hadn’t been washed in years. The bathrooms are partly used as a closet with a shop vacuum, spare toilet paper and a package of kitty litter? I felt gross touching anything, even handling the menus. This is only a few of things I had noticed. One of my friends had chosen not to order due to her being turned off just by the dirtiness of what we could see in the dining room. My group decided to leave without even ordering due to how generally uncleanly the entire restaurant was. If this is what the owner and the staff think is appropriate cleanliness to display in front of the customer, I can’t even imagine what kind of standards they have behind the counter while handling and making food. I’m surprised that there aren’t any other reviews mentioning this. Will not ever come here again or ever...
Read moreReceptionist is rude and makes experience bad and type one doesn’t want to return because would not like to deal with him again . Ordered a sushi to eat in , no wasabi came in. Had to ask for it. Ordered a take out, clear instructions (sauce on the side), it wasn’t followed through and gave like a pinch of wasabi . Wanted to like the place as food wasn’t bad but service made experience bad. Wanted to order some other stuff on menu , receptionist seemed impatient, not able to explain the product and acting like I’m stupid for not knowing. Was making me sit in the dark corner of the restaurant when the entire restaurant was empty. Bunch of white folks came in later and he was offering them the same window seats and offering to take their coats. Maybe it’s good for them to learn Canada is not the place for such an attitude whether said or unsaid . I said i would like to sit by the window because it’s sunny and he had an attitude about it. Returning or tip? Not! There are lots of better sushi places in town. For 30...
