Based off my experiences, families and friends I've taken here.
Onigiri, which is called in Japanese rice triangles or rice balls with savory fillings, are great to eat on the go.
The asian culture have been making filled rice snacks since before chopsticks were invented. Onigiri, these rice balls or rice triangles are an easy way to eat without utensils. They’re great for another reason, too: The rice preserves the savory fillings inside. And they make a great brown bag lunch.
Just a quick overview of what Tring5 sells. They do have rice bowls and desserts that they are known for.
This place is definitely a hit with friends and family when I've taken them here. Located in the west part of Winnipeg and after speaking to the owners they said they are creating another location in the Corydon area as well not sure when or if they have created it however they are situated in the west by cavalier across princess auto, tim Hortons and petro gas station.
I myself have tried almost all of what they serve and they did not disappoint. Eveyone I have taken here almost always comes back and tries it all and raves ro try other items.
Thier drinks especially the sparkling in house drinks they make is such a refreshing feeling especially on a hot humid Winnipeg summer. When I first tried this place I mentioned to the owners it was my first time and how they treated me was just amazing. Not only did they make a few samples which weren't sample sizes they were the same portions of what you ordered. They gave it to me for to try and they knew that they had an amazing product for me to return with family and friends. They gave me a onigiri a sparkling drink and a donut. It was amazing! Everytime my family and I go there the owners would always throw an extra dessert or two in for us.
Tring5 never disappoints Always remember be there early to try their onigiri as once they run out thats it you have to wait for the next day. If you want just call in to see what they have available at that time.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!
Well priced Well portioned especially the sized for what you are getting and paying.
Thank you to Tring5 for always making every experience amazing.
Eveytime we stop by in Winnipeg this is one of our favorite...
Read moreThis place was amazing! Genuinely some of the best East Asian food we have ever had!
I'll start with the drinks. We ordered two smoothies, a taro and a strawberry. The Taro was so light and refreshing, it was quite cold the day we went but I can only imagine how refreshing it would be on a hot day! And the strawberry genuinely tasted like fresh picked wild strawberries! (We all know wild fresh strawberries taste better than bought ones)
Next the rice bowls! I had a stewed pork bowl (I forget the proper name) and my husband had the Mongolian pork bowl. In his words (The best Asian style meat I have ever had. The texture was perfect. That blend of crisp outside with saucy melt in your mouth interior. Plus just the perfect amount of char to give it a smokey flavour" plus both came with beautifully cooked, fresh sushi rice, spring rolls, chili sauce, and even a little scoop of bacon mashed potatoes which was nice 😊.
Then there were the snacks! We got Triangle rice (it is onigiri) stuffed with Korean BBQ and it was amazing, we kept one in the fridge and it was still good a day later! They come with a layer between the rice and the seaweed so it is still crisp when you eat it. And finally we had the INCREDIBLE fruit crunch! This lovely candied fruit they serve. The cook had just made a fresh batch and he saw that we were excited and gave us a grape skewer to go with our strawberry one we had ordered!
Everyone there was so nice and so HAPPY! you can tell walking in that it is a labor of love running this place and a genuinely great place to work! Will definitely be making this my go to stop for road snacks...
Read moreWe went here on a whim because we were nearby, and I am so glad that we did. First, the vibe is great. The way all of the staff interact with the customers is welcoming and enjoyable. They give a very friendly / calm vibe so you don't feel rushed or pressured, and yet they are still quick and proficient. Full marks just for that.
The food was delicious. We tried a couple of their bowls, the triangle rice, a couple of donuts, a street food stick (ST,) and drinks.
Everything was good. The bowls are big! Great value for dollar. The triangle rice were really good. I had the volcano pork, and it was actually spicy hot. The donuts were very good. The street food stick was yummy. The drinks had strong flavours.
The experience was so good that we went back the next day to get a couple of bowls, the ST stick, and different drinks for a day trip we were going on. For the second visit, everything was, once again, superb.
Tring5 is well...
