I work further down in the same strip mall but had no idea that this place even existed until today, and that's only because someone (the owner?) Came to my store with pamphlets asking if we could hand them out. :) Came in after my shift!
I ordered the "special manousheh" and it's basically a margherita pizza, but sooo much better tasting!!! When I visit new places I like to get something that's a little familiar before trying new things. It was SO good I cannot stress that enough; I ate half of my order just waiting for the bus stop, and then the other half waiting for my next bus. You can really taste how fresh the ingredients are! The texture of everything was just perfect and I can't wait to try something new next time I come in!!
I did try the Laban Ayran because I was curious. I was told it would be salty, and it sure was! Not my usual taste but I found it really interesting to try anyways. :)
Going to be telling my friends about this place, and also posting in the Winnipeg Reddit so more people know how great this place is! And the prices were also really good...
Read moreI've been here three times to give it a fair shot.
Pros: Turkish coffee is lovely, flatbreads are AMAZING, baked sweets are pretty good but not for all tastes.
Cons: Wait time is much too long. I think because the place is rarely busy, the staff believe that customers don't have anywhere else to be either. When I ordered flatbread a few weeks ago, the staff sort of puttered around for more then five minutes before handing me my pastry and several more minutes before even starting to make the food. (There were no other customers at the time.)
I was just there today and ordered a latte. I was told it would take two minutes. It took 15.
This was the second latte I’ve had from them and the coffee is very weak; their Turkish coffee is much better.
Also note that there are no garbage cans in the dining area.
It’s worth a visit but don’t go when...
Read moreOh my goodness... Winnibakes is amazing. Between the atmosphere, the food, and the people - everything was perfect.
Their Labneh Manakish was very tasty, their Labneh being exceptionally flavourful - I even got an extra to go. The Shakchouka and Basbousa were by far my favourite. A definite must, as I ordered extra. The ladies working that night were very kind and helpful in what to order - going very in depth about menu items I hadn't heard of.
It was so much cheaper than any fast food, and the taste is even more supreme. I walked out feeling satisfied and full, with leftovers too!! It is also halal, which is great as there aren't many halal restaurants in my area.
It was a perfect, authentic experience, at a very reasonable price - I highly recommend. If you do not go, you are missing...
