Thirsty Duck Cafe — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Original Review 09/2022: I tried the Thirsty Duck for the first time after having seen a few recommendations on the East K & Elmwood Community Facebook group and will most certainly be going back again.

I ordered directly from their website and picked it up myself. #75 Singapore Fried Rice Noodle Good size portion w/ lots of pork, shrimp, veggies, and a very nice curry flavour #94 Lemon Battered Chicken Again, great portion size with large pieces of chicken and a very tasty and tangy lemon sauce that comes on the side. The chicken to batter ratio was excellent, unlike some other places with little chicken and too much batter. The batter was nice and crispy. #150 Deluxe Diced Veggies with Almonds Large portion with lots of chicken and almonds. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, still firm, and the gravy was rich and full of flavour. #56 Chicken Fried Rice (Free with over over $35) The rice appeared quite dark so I was a little concerned that it would be salty from too much soy but it was not. There was plenty of chicken and was very good.

An overall excellent value for the portion sizes and quality of the food.

03/27/2023 - Ordered from Thirsty Duck again yesterday, same order except I received the free Honey Garlic Chicken instead of the rice. Food was on par with I had received the 1st time, excellent quality and a good bang...

I used to come here for lunch and breakfast all the time before covid hit. I enjoyed the food and the service. I thought they were permanently closed but drove by awhile ago and saw they were open. Got home and tried ordering for pick up but no answer on the phone. Ok I thought I'll try next time but same thing. I know they were open but wouldn't answer the phone after trying 3 times. I finally stopped one day and went in to get some take out.i asked why they don't answer the phone for pick up orders and they had no real answer. I believe they are being held hostage by skip the dishes. I don't use it because I want local places to get the money and not have to give up their profits so they stay in business. This is not the way to do it. How many orders have you missed because of this? The food was still good but I'm not coming in and then waiting outside for half an hour because you don't answer your phone. Hopefully you can handle phone in orders and...

Tried out this chinese restaurant for the first time on May 12 We were Not impressed First of all the prices have gone up around 2.00 on most items . The Web paget aND the actual prices are different. The food portions were ok BUT chicken balls had more batter then chicken The Singapore noodle dish didn't have any flovor. The rice was ok With the 6 dishes we did order most of the dishes seemed like they added in the spices but forgot to stir it in. Some bites you got a paste like texture and another bite no flavor at all. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have company coming over that you don't want them...
