It was just ok. The Cantonese chowmein, chicken with cashews and the sautéed mixed vegetables all tasted exactly the same...so that was disappointing. They could have added a bit of a different flavour. Dry breaded pork was ok. The lemon chicken was good. Did not care for the crispy ginger beef. It had a yellowy sauce. Unlike others I have tried that has more of a reddish brown sauce. I should have ordered the dry szechuan beef instead. Chicken fried rice was good as with most Chinese restaurants. The Cantonese chowmein was full of veggies(celery, onion, carrot, cabbage, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms). Also had chicken, pork and shrimp with noodles. Was surprised it had shrimp since it wasn't listed under seafood...oh well it was still good. All the chicken dishes the chicken seemed boiled and not sautéed except for the lemon chicken. We were somewhat disappointed with the dishes as the flavours seemed all very similar except for the ginger beef, lemon chicken and dry pork. Not worth nearly $150. Decor typical to Chinese restaurants. Clean. Pretty busy. Large portions. Unfortunately we will still be on the search for a really great Szechuan Chinese restaurant like the one that closed on Pembina Hwy...that was the best...
Read moreUnreal food. I have been coming here for years and it’s hot and sour soup is unmatched. I now live In saskatoon and have tried many different restaurants That are highly rated and I’m still searching for a hot and sour soup similar to the plazas! Everything here though is great. Some of my favorites is definitely the soup and the plaza beef is to die for. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside and it’s really not in the best neighborhood but the looks and 1st impressions are definitely deceiving. The inside decor has stayed the same for as long as I can remember but I honestly think that all Chinese restaurants that have out dated decor are always the best it seems ! It’s definitely worth the hike to this restaurant for the soup alone but everything back on the menu is fantastic. You’ll tell by everyone coming in like the locals picking up their food constantly that it’s a great place to eat. ! If you haven’t tried this place it’s def worth a try as every time I have eaten here it’s...
Read moreThe place is 150metres from where I’m staying so there really isn’t any reason why I shouldn’t try the place, it seems to do steady business although primarily Caucasian clientele as the menu does cater to more Western tastes than traditional Chinese, that being said my food was fresh and tasty there does seem to be some mistakes on the menu as what I thought I was ordering was actually completely different than what I received regardless everything was quite palatable and I enjoyed my meal. The menu is very simple but straight forward it’s completely in English although I wish that there was a Chinese English menu so there are no misunderstandings about what people are ordering. The place is very clean and basic no garish decorations or furniture just a simple traditional diner type atmosphere, the place is family owned and operated and everyone participates to get he meals out to you as quickly as possible. Lots of street parking and a parking lot beside the restaurant if you don’t want to park...
