I ride through St. Jacob's often on the motorcycle and pass this place while off to other locations. I've always wanted to stop in and try it out and today was the day. (May 5/22) I looked at the menu online beforehand and found quite a varied selection. Once there, I chose a Julienne salad...watching the waistline ya know, and it was huge. Nothing was in small amounts...meat or vegetables. Had the French onion soup to start and it was very tasty as well. My friend opted for a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with fries as he didn't want a huge meal. Well, this was a huge meal! We were both impressed with the portion sizes, quality and value...especially in covid times where prices have had to rise somewhat. It wasn't busy and we were greeted and seated in no time. Our server, Mary, shared our passion for motorcycles and was super attentive and fun to chat with. We left happy and full with the intention of coming back soon. So here's an update. I went back, I'd estimate a couple of weeks later. I thought I'd try something different and was with another friend. She had the fish and chips which she was quite pleased with and I opted for the souvlaki dinner. You might want to order this one if you have a huge appetite or like to have something to take home for another meal later. It was huge with two generous skewers of meat. You can opt for pork or chicken. A lovely salad, rice, fries and some pita bread. Once again the service was great and the food quality, equally great. Nice all-around family restaurant. I don't think anyone would be disappointed eating here.

We have passed this restaurant many times over the years, when driving through St. Jacob's. Tonight we decided to stop by and grab a bite. Being Tuesday at 5:45 (after work) the restaurant only had customers at 4 tables, which meant that we received a good table, and really good service as the staff checked up on us often. The decor is a little dated, but not horrible. The menu has a decent selection, and tonight's specials were also interesting. Our server was very friendly and informative, with her advice, we had no problem making our selections. The cream (I believe it was broccoli) soup was delicious, hot and hearty. The sole was perfectly prepared, a crispy coating with a moist fillet inside. My wife said it was some of the best fish she has had in a while. My souvlaki was also well prepared and presented. Both skewers were char-grilled but meat wasn't dry, the salad and rice were spot on. I must mention, that while I am not a huge fan of french fries, these were actually really good and flawlessly crispy. We'll have the fries again. Will there be a next time for us here ... most definitely! Do yourself a favour, stop by and check this place out for yourself. (Oh and did I mention that the prices were very reasonable?)

I have been here twice not a place I like to go to but have to for a baptism. Now this place has very sweet smoothie and ice tea like they add extra sugar to it. Just ordered the meatloaf looks like dog food and flavour is bland veggies are frozen to steamed and rice is uncle Ben type. Steak I is good dad ordered it. I ordered the first time pancakes they were great. Two things that frustrates me is how they literally take forever to serve the food I'm not kidding you timed it this second time it came 45 mins I had to order my sons food early when I ordered my drink and I still got my drink first and 20 mins later his food. Next today was the first time I used their washroom to do a diaper change there is NO Baby changer. As a family orientated restaurant that extremely annoys me to have my son with a soiled diaper having to maneuver his little body on a small slab of counter next to the sink and seeing him holding on to me. Decore is old, table we had was still sticky when we arrived.

I read and reread many of the reviews trying to figure out if we were being too harsh. But I have to be honest if I'm going to be of any benefit to anyone. This restaurant is dated but dated as in past prime and worn looking rather than dirty. It was clean. The bathroom is in a very awkward place whereby it's a small room within the dining area itself and yes, if you happen to be seated across from it, it's not the most pleasant. The bench seating was roomy, which is nice considering many are too tight fitting with narrow tables. The waitress was pleasant enough but seemed a tad bit rushed although it wasn't busy at all, perhaps four other tables with customers. The food came promptly and it was hot but that's where the real disappointment began. The Harvest Moon burger, certainly was impressive at first sight, loaded high with lettuce, generous tomato, cheese and onions and a thick burger. It came with a packet of mayo, mustard and relish. Slathering all that on, plus ketchup still did not give it any flavour. There was no flavour. None. It was bland. The beef patty itself had no seasoning - or none that could be tasted. Even the sautéed onions were actually tasteless. The french fries were golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - perfect, however they came salted which wasn't good because it was too much salt. I've never had fries come salted (other than some fast food). Salt should always be left up to the customer. The coleslaw was dry. Not just lacking dressing, but actually dry which made it unpalatable. An oil/vinegar dressing is usually a safe bet with slaw, not expensive and not difficult. I'm just not sure if their spice cabinet was empty? Regardless, it was a one of visit as we went to this area solely to visit the Farmer's Market. Perhaps other menu items would prove to be...

This was by far one of the worst meals that I have had in a restaurant. I would believe by the number of people that were in the dining room that their food was exceptional. Nope.

We ordered what the server suggested, which was the "specialty of the house" chicken souvlaki and pork souvlaki. The dinners came on an overcrowded plate with everything mashed together. The rice was mushy and tasted like wallpaper paste. Salad was wilted and I cannot describe the dressing, was there any?? My pork souvlaki was charred on the outside and pink and chewy on the inside. The chicken souvlaki was also undercooked and dry. I had to ask for side plates so that we could unravel the food "groups" on our plates.

Our dear elderly parents ordered turkey dinners that were equally as disgusting. I have never seen stuffing that looked like the stuff that they served, I'll spare you my initial description. I think the turkey was the frozen boxed stuff, hardly acceptable from a restaurant. To top off the experience, the cranberry sauce was "served" in a little plastic package. It really doesn't take much more effort to properly present the food in an appetizing manner.

I was very disappointed the this highly rated family restaurant has obviously lost their way and do not care what and how they serve their advertised good food. The sweet waitress was the only good part of this restaurant. Since she was doing her best we cannot fault her and she is the only reason for any stars on this review.

I think that there is a loyalty for this place but their patrons deserve to experience more effort from the kitchen / management and to learn some basics in food preparation and presentation.

I would not recommend this place until they have...

My partner and I and another couple had tickets to the theatre matinee and decided to go early and have lunch. I looked up restaurants but should have read all the reviews not just the five star. Had I read the single star reviews I would not have chosen this restaurant. First the food presentation and taste was very good, however the waitress was very rude and spoiled our entire experience. We arrived and were seated immediately and sat for some time. Another waitress came and welcomed us and informed us our waitress would be with us shortly. Then we waited another 10 min and the same waitress came back again apologizing and told us she would speak to our waitress and have her come to our table. Shortly afterwards our waitress arrived at the table, did not greet us and abruptly asked "what do you want?" Not a great start. We told her we'd prefer two bills , one for each couple and let her know who was with whom. She took our orders accordingly for each couple. One of us ordered a breakfast which arrived cold and had to be returned. My soup came with croutons despite the fact I told her when ordering, no croutons as I am gluten free, so that was returned. When the bills arrived they were wrong. She changed them and the second time they were wrong. I told her to take the soups and switch them on the bills. The third time they were still wrong and by this time she would not come to our table. I paid for the entire bill just to get out of there so we wouldn't be late to the theatre. Sadly none of us had ever been to this restaurant and chances are we will...
