I've walked by the EcoCafe a few times, and each time I've hesitated to check the place out. Probably influenced by the familiarity of the Stone Crock Bakery down the street, I usually headed to a location more familiar. Today I decided to check the place out and I'm really glad I did.
Walking into the place I was welcomed by a friendly barista, an inviting and warm atmosphere, and myriad options for my breakfast meal. I eventually opted for two of the September specials; the harvest bagel (cucumbers, pickled onions, and cream cheese on my choice of bagel) and a toffee nut lattee (a latte sweetened with caramel and hazelnut, with a light whip on top).
My bagel was delicious despite not having my usual everything bagel flavour, and I'm glad I opted for the cheddar and cranberry option. The latte, also, was delicious and being able to have dairy from local farmers was an additional treat! I would have taken a picture of my order, but it would seem I'm not very good at this whole "take the photo before I scarf the meal down" sequence of events đ
All of this to add to some lovely service from the two workers this morning and I have to safely and surely say I will be coming back. Thank you for the lovely start...
Read moreLovely café with nice hot and cold beverages and an environment suitable for reading. The ambiance is pleasant with nice decorations and small things that have souls in every corner.
As for the food and beverages, the mixed berry scone I got was moist and fresh with large berries inside and a unique texture- it was shiny and smooth more like a bagel on the outside, while on the inside it was flaky and tender like a scone should be. The hot London fog was aromatic and mildly sweet. Also, their raspberry iced tea was quite refreshing and tasty.
Although there was only one staff member in the front, the service was quite fast and wait times weren't more than 5 minutes in the busiest times during my visit. I also loved that they support local businesses like Eby Manor or Four All ice cream. I will definitely be back to this beautiful café....
Read moreEcoCafe has done an incredible job creating a safe but also stunning space for its patrons. When you order it is like you are buying movie theatre tickets through plexiglass and a speaker. You go down the hall and around the corner and see that the cafe has been completely walled but you can see itâs stunning original space through the window. They have sliding drawers where you can pick up your coffee with zero human contact. Warning though! Their coffee is STRONG!!! I got a mocha and it was absolutely delicious but I did not sleep that night, hours and hours later. Yes, I am super sensitive to caffeine but even for me that was quite unbelievable. We took out hot beverages and walked the Health Valley Trail which was wonderful! Personal note: there are no garbages along the trail so hold onto your coffee!!!...
