What has happened to this restaurant?!
In the last several visits, I have witnessed a serious decline in service, food and overall what appears to be the caring of staff.
We ordered a kids meal, and two pasta dishes recently during a dine in experience. The kitchen or waitress forgot the kids meal and only discovered that after the two pasta meals were ready and delivered to the table.
The lasagna that was ordered looked and tasted like it was cut from a frozen store lasagna then plopped in a dish twice it's size. A strange salad not even listed on the menu accompanied the lasagna.
Had their been prior knowledge of the salad or asked by the server what side they would like, a proper side could've been ordered. Instead there was a salad plated and covered in an unidentified dressing. Even then the salad looked like it could fit in a child's hand.
The menu was checked and no mention of a salad accompanied the lasagna item or in the "all pastas are served with garlic toast" section of the menu that dictates the side of those pasta dishes
The chicken fettuccini alfredo was also subpar. The chicken tasted microwaved and rubbery.
During the meal, no one came to really check on our table once the kids meal finally came out 10 minutes after the two adult meals were served despite our server running back and forth from the kitchen and floor passed out table.
And the staff were constantly bumping into each other almost spilling multiple plates of food coming from the kitchen to the dining area.
After a terrible experience, I doubt my family and I will be back.
Previous post "The Quarry has a very well priced kids menu. The new adult menu is lovely. The food comes well made and the overall presentation of every dish...
Read moreDon't leave without checking if they have everything you ordered correctly. I called asking 2 separate orders one to be picked up at lunch and one to be picked up at 5:30pm. Went there lunch to pick up my first order, lady who helped me asked if I wanted to pay both orders including dinner, so I said sure it doesn't really matter, so she took 2 payments from me saying I could just show my receipt when I pick up my dinner order so they know its already paid. Came back at 5:30, they don't have my dinner order prepared, they said because I shouldn't have paid it right away because it would show on their system that it's closed and already been picked-up. So they said they'll just do the order but they need at least 20minutes. He said the halibut (that I already paid cost 30) is not available, then he said to pick another kind of fish so I said Char which is 5 dollars more so I asked do I need to pay more, he answered, "don't worry about it". so I left and came back after 20minutes. Didn't check what they gave but as soon as I got home to check, not only they gave me their cheapest kind of fish, 5dollars lesser than what I paid, they didn't give the two sides (rice and fries) and I reviewed the receipt they gave and overcharged me $10 for another Pasta I didn't order and they didn't give me. I love the food but I definitely learned my lesson not to order take-out from them without double checking everything in the receipt and double checking if they've given me correctly every single...
Read moreQuarry is a solid choice in Yellowknife. Even if you don't live in Cheateau Nova, it is worth coming here as they have a great variety of options on the menu. Its greatest advantage is that it is right at where you live. There are limited restaurant options in Yellowknife. You are not going to eat at downtown every day - especially if it is cold outside.
We tried out their 14 oz Rib Eye Steak and the Baby Back Ribs (honey garlic). The steak was really good. The meat is tender with the delicious sauce. It is just as tasty (or even more so) as you'd expect from other Canadian cities. Remember we are in Yellowknife, where groceries are hard to come by. The back ribs are not bad, but the meat texture is not as tender as I expected.
The only thing is that I asked for medium rare, perhaps their definition is a bit different here but it looked more well-done. The steak was still tender and juicy - so it was fine. However, the bread they give was dry and coarse, which could use some improvements.
Since I was impressed with the dinner experience, I came here to try their continental breakfast. It is buffet style, but nothing too special, basically what you would expect for a motel/lower-end breakfast. So I didn't take any photos.
The lighting is quite dim, which could get depressing during the winter. It was also very quiet, it would be nice to have some music. Overall, it is still a great restaurant and I would definitely come back...
