Wow.
I had the chef’s special meal for $20. Three pieces of fried chicken, waffles, hash browns, and fruit.
This is probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in Yellowknife to date. (Although, most meals in YK are very good)
The fried chicken was… burned and dry. Tasted like cardboard with no seasonings. Barely edible.
The waffle was over cooked to the point of being burned and dry. If they had advertised “waffle crisps” instead, it would be more accurate. Tasted like frozen waffles overcooked to nastiness.
Hash browns, which is the one thing I’d be okay with being crispy… was over cooked but mushy and oily. If I squeezed them inside of a filter paper, I’m sure I’d get gobs of grease from them.
The fruit was okay. Thankfully the chef was able to cut up melons and pluck grape from the stem.
Had tea. Never asked if I’d like a refill of hot water. Never even asked how the meal was. Had to ask for every accompaniment. Including syrup for the waffle and ketchup for hash browns.
I have to agree with the other reviewers. This place is trying to be something they aren’t, a restaurant.
Save yourself and Go to one of the other places for breakfast instead (Maybe golds or Marks). It is too...
Read moreTell me how a lasagna dish comes out in less than 5 minutes without being reheated in a microwave?! Same with the fish dish. Small portions, tasteless, overpriced. The server was nice. They had no draft beer on tap, yet the place looks like a sports bar but are aiming for the stars to be like Copperhouse. The Bannock bread didn't taste fresh either, but the maple butter made up for it. For dessert we had the Tiramisu which looked homemade, but must have sat too long as the bottom was pooling with coffee and mascarpone cheese like it was made a while ago and was no longer stable. I would stay clear of this place. Total bill for two meals, no drinks, and a dessert was $100. Same price as Copperhouse, but I had a steak dinner there, two meals and a dessert, and it far exceeded the Hungry Wolf. You'd have to be a desperate Hungry Wolf to eat here....Like my review if it...
Read moreThe food is quite bad even for a small place like Yellowknife. We ordered a few different dishes and all of them were below average. When we asked about the bad taste of the dishes, the server asked us "where are you from" questioning our opinion and said that others like this food. The horrible food and snooty attitude of the server resulted in having the worst restaurant experience in Yellowknife. At the end, we were forced to pay 22% gratuity because we were a group of 6 despite the bad service and even worse food. Avoid this place if you want to...
