I am writing to express my disappointment with the service my family and I received during our recent visit to Copperhouse in Yellowknife today at 6:15 PM. We had made a reservation via phone, but upon arrival, we were informed by a gentleman that our reservation could not be found. Despite seeing four large walk-in tables available, this was not our primary concern. What stood out most was the poor service and attitude we encountered.
I had attempted numerous times to make the reservation by calling unsuccessfully, which prompted me to call the main line. The lady who answered the phone directed me to text for the reservation, and I received a reply stating that they would not honor the reservation as I was too late. However, when I called back the main line again, the same lady answered and graciously accepted our reservation.
After being told our reservation was not found upon arrival, we waited while two groups who arrived after us had their drink orders taken and served before us. Not only were drinks served to the tables after us, but food orders were also taken. We were a party with two-year-old twins and a nine-month-old, which made the delay and lack of attention even more frustrating. Luckily, our toddlers and infant were patient during our eight-minute wait at the door and were okay with us leaving at 6:40 PM.
The gentleman who greeted us and was seating everyone was extremely flustered and did not care to ease our minds, despite the fact that there were other tables available. We encountered this before he even seated us. He had a dismissive attitude, mentioning that the restaurant was extremely busy, the kitchen was backed up too, and the food would be slow. While we understand that busy periods can happen, the lack of courtesy and the delay in service were unacceptable. We were okay with the delay in food and are always prepared for that when traveling with children. Although the waitress should have noticed that our large group of eight was seated first, our issue was not with her but with the gentleman seating everyone.
This was our final night in Yellowknife, and we had planned this meal as a special treat for everyone. I was visiting from Nova Scotia to spend time with my family, and we had been looking forward to dining at Copperhouse. This experience has left us quite dissatisfied. We hope that you can address these issues to prevent other customers from experiencing similar frustrations...
Read moreThis is actually not the first time I’ve had poor service at Copperhouse. Unfortunately, this is the one and only time I will be providing a review. Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and asked if we knew what we wanted (of course we needed a couple minutes) we were at Copperhouse to support the live music artist that evening. We had asked for the margarita pitcher, we waiting approximately 30 minutes for our drink to arrive and that sadly that was the next time we saw our server, so we placed our food order at the same time our drink arrived. What we received was not a margarita and thankfully neither of us had any allergies to what was served in place of a margarita (something fruity and tropical, but not a margarita as advertised) this already sadly left a bad taste in our mouth and we did not see our waiter again until they briefly looked over and asked if we wanted more clearly seeing both our glasses and the pitcher still full. The food has arrived and was delivered by another server: Chicken Pesto Carbonara was soupy but at that point I wasn’t going to be eating in the restaurant anyway and would be packing up the food to eat at a later time at home. I noted to our server that our pitcher was not a margarita and that although when the drink was brought out to us we would’ve pointed this out as soon as they came back around the opportunity wasn’t there to reorder. Additional waiting followed for a take out container and the bill because apparently the manager is the one doing up the bills.
This issue is almost an exact match to service issues our party had previously at the end of may as well. I understand when an establishment is busy etc. however, this doesn’t quite seem to be the case. Other tables / parties had no issues receiving service or...
Read moreOkay, honest review. I tried making a reservation. The automated system when I phoned led to an answering machine. Shortly after, I received a text asking for details abt the reservation. I sent it off hoping for the best. I received another text from a different number saying "Unfortunately, we close our reservations for tonight. we recommend you make your reservation in advance. And you are welcome as a walk-in." It was a Sunday evening and we took our chances as a walk-in, but I was skeptical to go because of the text message. Who wants to drive across town with an infant only to be turned away?!
That being said, we took our chances at 7:30 pm and there were lots of tables open and 3 tables filled. We were celebrating a birthday, so we were lucky we took the chance.
Our server was super friendly and professional, and patient with our little one. He even grabbed us a high chair. The staff also made a special birthday cocktail which was nice.
The food was top notch. I enjoyed the steak, while my wife enjoyed the pizza. (Our little one also enjoyed the pizza and sweet potato fries with balsamic glaze!). The atmosphere was perfect for a birthday, and the food matched the scene.
If I had anything negative to say, it would be that the pricing was a little steep. I understand inflation, and I do work in the food industry, but with tip for Steak, Pizza, Fries, and one cocktail came to $127. It's a birthday and I could justify it, but it wouldn't be my first choice compared to other restaurants in Yellowknife based on price and quality.
Overall a positive experience!
