I rarely give negative feedback but this place is a champion of bad and arrogant service. It was our last morning in Mindelo and we decided to spend it at the beach club. We came at 9 am to have breakfast the place was closed but the staff was there. After 20 minutes we approached them, and we were told that they are truly opened from 9.00 but they were having food so they will open in a bit. After another 20 minutes they finally opened gave us the menu, without any comment or apology, and of course we waited another 20 minutes for anyone to take the order. So I had to approach the counter myself, the girl at the counter was dealing with another customer, so I asked a guy to take an order but he told me to approach a girl, while he did not even do anything at the time. After I tried to order pancakes with fruits instead of ice cream and got laughed at, my patience ran out and we went to have breakfast at a place nearby. Twice cheaper and four times faster! So thank you Kalimba beach club for just losing one hour on...
Read moreI have a mixed feeling about this place.
Let's start with the good: best location you can wish for. Next to the nicest beach in São Vicente. very cute looking place, they thought well about the design. Good (very strong!) Cocktails. Price was expensive for CV, but it is reasonable for the location and for tourists.
The bad: food was only ok. The hamburger trio were 3 types of burgers on the same bun. (Instead of 3 mini hamburgers)
The ugly: The night we were there, there were some french tourists being very loud and obnoxious (the cooks came out of the kitchen to watch the insanity). They requested french music and the workers obliged. They put the music so loud that we could not have a conversation anymore. It kind of ruined the experience and other guests left because of it.
Kalimba: Please do something about the food, the hamburger trio should be 3 seperate small burgers. Don't cater to obnoxious tourists as that will ruin your business in the long term. (One song is ok, all the night french...
Read moreIncredible place to be under the parasols, though you do have to pay for the beds. A have to visit if in Mindelo. The only downside is sometimes there are beggars or men walking around trying to get your attention and your money or sell things or pretend to be guides which is no fault of the beach club's and is a minor detail but it is worth knowing so you don't get taken advantage of. They will start conversations with you in order to manipulate you. The beach club do have security men patrolling around the restaurant bar area. The bar and restaurant do seem to get busy in...
