The Casamarel - Restaurant Mindelo — Restaurant in São Vicente

Too bad, a lot of things went wrong. First of all, our reservation did not exist. We had had this done by our hotel and also got a confirmation. After two phone calls, we were finally allowed into the restaurant. Then it took ten minutes until we got the menu. And then we waited again. After a total of 30 minutes (!) we had even placed our order. We were about to leave. If only we had. It took another 60 minutes from ordering to eating. Unbelievable!!! Unfortunately, the food didn't really compensate us. My beer was frozen (was exchanged at my request). The chicken satay was ok, nothing more. The filet mignon was supposed to have a cognac cream sauce, which it certainly wasn't. The sauce also tasted like peanut, certainly not cognac and cream. Overall, we can't understand the...

We were pleasantly surprised when we found this gem and gave it a try! We went there for dinner, got a table with the best sunset view without reservation and enjoyed very good food and drinks. Throughout the evening everyone was very welcoming, friendly and thoughtful (not always the case in Cabo Verde from our experience). Laura, the owner, even greets everyone at the table personally and makes you feel welcome. Prices are reasonable for what you get (Grilled Octopus/Steak for 18€) but there is a variety of starters costing 4€ each and my vegetarian girlfriend got to pick from several veggie options for 5-7€ for a main dish. Lors de notre passage à Mindelo, nous avons eu le plaisir de découvrir The Casamarel, et quelle merveilleuse surprise ! Ce restaurant, perché sur les hauteurs de la ville, offre une vue imprenable sur le port et l’océan, rendant l’expérience encore plus magique.En entrée, nous avons opté pour le saté de poulet et les croquettes de poisson. Le saté était parfaitement mariné et grillé, offrant un équilibre subtil entre le moelleux du poulet et les épices délicates. Les croquettes de poisson, quant à elles, étaient croustillantes à l’extérieur et fondantes à l’intérieur, avec un goût de poisson parfaitement relevé. Pour le plat principal, nous avons choisi les pâtes arrabbiata et les gambas grillées à l’huile d’olive, accompagnées d’une salade composée. Les pâtes étaient parfaitement al dente, baignées dans une sauce légèrement épicée et savoureuse. Les gambas, grillées à la perfection, étaient d’une fraîcheur remarquable, et l’huile d’olive rehaussait leur goût naturel. La salade composée apportait une touche de fraîcheur qui complétait à merveille ce plat généreux. Perché sur les hauteurs de Mindelo, The Casamarel offre non seulement une cuisine exceptionnelle mais également une atmosphère unique grâce à sa vue panoramique sur l’océan.
