ONNI KBBQ & HOTPOT — Restaurant in Las Condes

An identity crisis? Maybe, but this is more like a Chinese restaurant trying to hop on the K-pop bandwagon.

The restaurant: Every table at this place has a grill in the center and an individual hot pot.

There were two “salad bars” where you could get your own sauces and side dishes: one Korean and one Chinese. First of all, all the dipping sauces for the soup, sauces for the grill, and salad sauces were placed together with no distinction. Someone who is not familiar with Asian food would not be able to tell which is which.

The “Korean side dishes” made it apparent to me that this place is not Korean. No Korean restaurant would serve those side dishes. One was sliced potatoes and carrots mixed with gochujang, and the other was potatoes with sesame oil and some greens (though these do kind of exist, they are not what you would expect from a KBBQ place).

🍲 Hot pot: We got the tomato-based soup and mala soup. They tasted fine. The ingredients available were probably the best you can find for a hotpot place in Chile (though that doesn’t say much).

My husband ordered a plate of what the server told us were “rice noodles,” but they were clearly mung bean noodles…

I’m not sure if this place knows what they are doing…

The service was standard and good. I don’t have anything to complain...

Went for lunch and the experience was extremely poor. First, they advertised on Instagram on February 17, a lunch promotion for weekdays (Mon - Fri) but when we got there ( I went on a Friday), they said that lunch promotion was for when it was open (in December), when I showed the date of the publishing, they said oh it was only for those few days - I visited on 28 February. It’s hard to believe that there’s a lunch menu only for 10 days. We ordered the bbq set for 2 which suppose to come with unlimited banchan - there was only 1 banchan available. When I asked, they brought out another. Finally I asked again if there was kimchi, and they brought me a small serving but then charged me 4,500clp for it. The boleta said Kimchi. I was very shocked and will never go back. No koreqn restaurant I have ever been charges...

I have been in this restaurant 2 times. The first time I tried lunch set which is good and reasonable price. The place was clean and the service was excellent. However , the second time i tried Korean BBQ and I was disappointed because the quality of pork was not the same as describe in the menu. The service was still good but the price was too high comparing with the quality of pork.

Have not tried hotpot yet. I might go back there...
