We had a great time at TRB Hutong. If you are a fan of fine-dining and Michelin Star precision, then you will not be disappointed.
Marks given are proportionate to what standards that are to be expected from a Michelin guide establishment at the price charged, as am comparing to similar establishments for fairness.
This restaurant comes recommended due to the food and the amazing feel of the restaurant. I would say it's worth the prices charged.
It's always best to start analysing a restaurant by focussing on the food. TRB Hutong is a fusion of Asian, Spanish and French cuisines. The chef is a lovely warm Spanish chap, and was kind enough to introduce himself towards the end of the meal and talk explain his influences. Flavours and presention were excellent, with every dish worthy of praise. Feel it's 4 stars, as a little more variety of textures could improve the first half of the tasting menu.
Ambience would be 6/5 at a minimum! It's a tricky bewitching courtyard and entrance, which combines traditional Chinese decorations with a sleek elegance throughout the restaurant.
The service was very impressive. We reached out to the restaurant in advance to request a view of the Courtyard, and we are very grateful that we were given a great spot. The Chinese ladies serving us were warm and friendly, and able to explain the dishes in multiple languages.
Overall, definitely worth a visit if you like fine-dining. The chef, kitchen and front of house team should be highly commended on a great restaurant. Thank you for a...
Read moreMy solo-dinner at TRB Hutong was one of, if not the best I’ve ever had. From the atmosphere, beautiful tableware to the incredible food & wine pairing - not to forget the attentive and welcoming personnel. Being located in an old temple only adds to the experience.
There is no denying that the price is steep, but so-worth the money. Dishes included shrimp, lobster, wagyu, often combined with just the right ingredients and include lovely local touches. On one hand, certain dishes include a personal story, either linked to Beijing as a city or to the personal (culinary) experiences of the chef. On the other, the sommeliers were prepared to pair the dishes with excellent wines - yet again, including a glass of Chinese wine.
Last, the chef also personally came to the table, thanked me for having had dinner at TRB Hutong, and was up for a chat. I would like to thank the team for making my trip to Beijing...
