My favorite experience in Chengdu! The place is very cozy, with a warm atmosphere. The species of mushrooms are out on display as you walk into the restaurant on your way to be seated. I cannot recall everything that we ordered (it was a ton!), but we went for a soup appetizer, and a bunch of hot pot items. I went normal (level 1 spicy) while my colleague went level 2. I like spicy foods, and level 1 put a few beads of sweat on me, I think level 2 would have been too much to enjoy on my part. We had wagu beef, lamb, another cut of beef, so many types of mushrooms, vegetables, tiger fish (outstanding!), shrimp balls...and too many others to recall. The spread was absolutely breathtaking. This experience alone is worth traveling...

My colleague speaks some Chinese so we managed the basics but feel like we missed out on some local specialities. Essentially everything evolves around the central hotpot, we went for one with a central spicy broth and outer mild broth to give contrast. You select varieties of meat and vegetables to cook in the broth. Your selection then comes down to making a dipping sauce before eating.
