Located inside a small lane. Typical coffee shop with small tables and fans. More seating opposite the shop on this narrow lane. 7 years Michelin achievement since 2018. An elderly lady takes charge at the counter. No nonsense and will not hesitate to pester you to order fast. Zero courtesy. After each dish order, she will ask what else. For 1 soup wanton mee, 1 pig trotter mee and 1 plate of fried wanton cost RMB 45 including 1 small bottle of coca cola. When both noddles arrived and we emptied the bowl, the fried wanton still no show. We inquired from one staff member who happened to walk past, her reply still frying and not ready before disappearing into the kitchen. Food is better than average but the service is none to being rude. With such service and non air cond wonder how the Michelin is awarded year after year??

Taste: Signature wanton noodles(dried) was average. Fried wantons were good with the sweet chili sauce. Zhajiang noodles was ok but quite salty Cost: RMB$50 Waiting time: 15 minutes Overall: 7/10. Worth trying once but I wont be coming back. They are on Michelin guide for several years, popularized on several TV shows in China, Korea. There was nothing special about the noodles. Please note that they have seats on opposite side of the shop. Can be difficult to find as it was located in an alley.

Michelin Bib Gourmand wantan mee restaurant. Just count for yourself how many years consecutively they have received the award.

Arrived at 10.20am. No queues as it’s past breakfast and before lunch (take note for those who wish to skip the renowned queue for this noodle). Ordered a Sai Yong (细蓉or small bowl of wantan noodles) and a portion of fried wantan.

The noodles were served in the correct position, i.e. noodles on top of the wantan. This is to ensure that the noodles are elevated above the broth and prevent them from becoming too soggy too quick. Texture of noodles is springy but a tad too soft to be called al dente. Broth has a strong flavour of Tee Por fish powder (deep fried flounder fish ground into powder) or what the Chinese call 大地鱼. Really good.

Pro tip: At every table, we can the Set of Four - Ground white pepper powder, chilli sauce, red vinegar and preserved radish cubes. It is traditional for Guangzhou locals to add all these to their noodles (except maybe the chilli sauce especially if you don’t like spicy). Both the vinegar and the preserved radish cuts through the meaty umami taste and adds new dimensions to the flavour of the noodles and wantan. Must try!

As for the Fried wantan, it was nice when served hot. Be careful not to scald yourself. But after a few, especially after it cools down, it can be a bit too much. Wish i had more of the wantan mee broth to help out here.

Overall, i would say well deserving of their Michelin award although noodles could be cooked...
