We had an absolutely delightful Monday lunch at Mott 32! As one of the most renowned Chinese restaurant brands in the world, Mott 32 is consistently recognized for its exceptional interior design, signature cocktails, and cuisine. It's a true gem in the culinary scene. One aspect that sets Mott 32 apart is their dedication to sustainability. We were pleased to learn that they are one of the pioneers in offering plant-based alternatives in Chinese fine dining. It's refreshing to see a restaurant that not only excels in taste but also places importance on ethical dining choices. Now, let's get to the highlight of our experience—the food! We indulged in a variety of delectable dishes, including the daily double boiled soup, which was a comforting and flavorsome start to our meal. The deep-fried black cod with golden garlic and chili (避風塘銀雪魚) was a true standout, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delightful balance of garlic and chili flavors. The crispy free-range chicken laced with Maotai (香脆茅台雞) was a culinary masterpiece. The chicken had a satisfying crunch, and the infusion of Maotai added a unique and aromatic touch. It was a dish that delighted our taste buds in every bite. We also savored the wok-fried kale with dried shrimp, minced pork, and belacam sauce (馬拉盞蝦乾黑豚肉碎芥蘭煲). The combination of flavors and textures was superb, with the dried shrimp and minced pork complementing the freshness of the kale. It was a perfect balance of savory and umami. Throughout our meal, the servers demonstrated attentiveness and a strong work ethic. Donna, in particular, stood out with her exceptional service. She went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable and enjoyable. It's heartening to see a young server like Donna who possesses such professionalism and dedication. She truly changed our perception of the younger generation of servers and exemplified the importance of proper training. Having Donna attend to our table was an absolute pleasure. We left Mott 32 feeling not only satisfied with the incredible food but also impressed by the overall experience. Thank you to the entire team at Mott 32 for creating a dining experience that exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning soon!

Certainly a good place. Fantastic interior design, industrial chic, with wonderful ambience lighting. It used to be the vault of a major bank converted into one of the greatest restaurants in Hong Kong. We took our lunch there and despite the place being packed but not congested, the service was adequate. The food in my very honest opinion was not impressive but it was fine. Actually the previous night we tried the China Tang in Landmark and albeit pricey the taste of the food there was outstanding. In Mott 32 more specifically, the pork served at the beginning with a reddish sauce on top was exceptionally tasty. The dumplings 🥟 were indifferent, the veggies were okay but not garlicky enough, the whole duck 🦆 was sliced into perfection in front of us and served as usual with pitta and other staffing, the soup was delicious. The noodles were over boiled, I was not of course expected al dente noodles in a modern international Chinese restaurant however they were way too soft. The ice cream 🍨 deserts were okay, I couldn’t eat the spicy chocolate but we tried the black sesame, the soy sauce and the ginger ones. I had a cappuccino which was too milky, then I gave it back and ordered an Americano which was as bitter as it could be, I guess I was unlucky with my coffee this specific day. Overall we had a great time, good fun and we paid a fair price of only HKD 10,000 per person. I recommend it but I remain a big fun of VEA, Carbone, Amber, and ultimately China Tang and I will certainly give Mott 32 another lunch opportunity as I like its ambience very much! It’s a bit of hit and miss with the dishes here. Quality in general is good but flavours need to be more refined than this for the price. Service wasn’t bad but it wasn’t a wow either, again for this price I expected better service. 3 dishes I thought was exceptional was the Shanghainese hot & sour dumplings , Crab Croquettes and Roasted Pork Belly. The other dim sums I had included: •Lobster Har Gau - very average, the texture of the meat ball inside was lacking and felt more like fish because it was so soft. The sauce they gave us to inject tastes like nothing, like a vegetable oil is all I can describe since I tastes it on its own. •Siu Mai - Nothing wow, as expected. •Scallion Roll - This was a huge disappointment. I did not expect it to be a bread roll. If I had known it was a steam Man Tou I wouldn’t have ordered it. •Char Siu BBQ Pork - This dish needed huge improvement. The sauce was wayyyy too sweet. I have had better bbq pork than this. It was way too lean, the marbling of the fat isn’t equally distributed, two pieces at the end was super fatty while all the others was super lean. Seating: We were seated in what I call the “Brush Room”. A very small room with four sofa seatings at the back of the restaurant. The walls are decorated with calligraphy brushes. The decors in this room is very dated compared to the rest of the restaurant, you can see the wall paper is peeling off right next to our table. The tables are also old. The first table we were sat down at there was even crumbs of food left on the seat. This is far from what I expected from a restaurant of this calibre. I also think the restaurant intentionally seat English speakers in this back room. Everyone else that also got sat down in this Brush Room with us also spoke English and wasn’t local. Staff: The young man that served us was a extremely serious. He didn’t smile once the whole time he served us. I can’t say it was bad service but I didn’t feel any warmth in it either. Conclusion: some dishes were really good but not good enough for me to want to return again.

You can’t go wrong, Mott 32 is really good. Don’t forget to pre book your Peking duck. We decided to go back to Mott32, last time was many years back. Firstly. nice looking restaurant, nice atmosphere and very efficient and customer service staff. You do have to pre book your Peking duck, it’s delicious. We had it kind of 3 ways : firstly some skin that you are advised to eat with sugar then some duck are cut in pieces and served with hoisin sauce, pancakes, cucumber and spring onions. Lastly we asked to have it shedded it served in salad leaves. The Peking duck was delicious and a must have experience at Mott 32. We had also some dim sums : - pork traditional soup dumplings - Har gow - Szechuan minced pork with chili oil - black cod dumpling with miso - crispy sugar coated bbq iberico porc bun - sui mai All the dim sum were delicious. If I had to pick my fav it would the bbq bun and the pork dumpling with chili and for the one I would not order again it would be the back cod. We had a lovely lunch and considering the amount of food we had for 3 people, for Hong Kong, the price is not cheap but feels fair (especially when we paid 1000 HKD less for Francis at 2 the day before, the experience just can’t be compared in terms of of pleasure and experience…). Go to Mott 32 you won’t regret it.

Atmosphere is good. Food wise only some of the signatures are good, the rest is very mediocre. Similarly their service seems very mediocre at such a fancy restaurant. You even had to pay extra for asking them to help to divide the food, which is unheard of at an upscale Asian Chinese restaurant. Duck - is good with crispy skin and soft meat but lacks the applewood scent that it prides itself on. Also it takes 1 hour to prepare upon order. Iberico pork - although the meat is soft, it does not stand out. You can easily get the same quality elsewhere in HK at a cheaper rate. Szechuan Chicken - must try, crispy and spicy but not too spicy. There is more meat than expected as well. Normally you’ll see more chilli than meat but here you’ll see more meat than chilli. Crispy egg noodle - must try, crispiness is done well and stays crispy even after some time. String beans with diced Wagyu beef - although the string beans are decent, the beef is too ‘diced’ to taste the texture. They probably just add the beef to increase the price without much value to the dish. Crab meat fried rice - can give it a miss, very mediocre. Dragon’s beard candy - must try, crispy with frozen ice cream with Pistachio taste in the middle when you bite.

Everything from the food to the decor and ambience was immaculate and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The only criticism I have is the slow and lacking service. The waiters we had were not very attentive and did not communicate with us very well. Also, even though we were one of the first few people there for lunch, our Peking Duck was very slow to arrive. We sat at our seats by 1140am and we only had our Peking Duck around 1240am, which was rather disappointing. On another note, we celebrated my aunt's birthday there and when booking/enquiring about bringing in a cake, I was told that there was a cake cutting service fee of HKD350, which was absurd. But then, they recommended an alternative which was their birthday longevity buns (as per picture) and this ended up being more reasonable price wise as well much more meaningful especially for Chinese people and the buns were also very delicious. So very happy how this turned out. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll definitely go back to try the rest of the menu, which I am sure will be just as delicious. Hopefully, the service would have improved by then.
