Kau Kee Kau Kee Food Cafe has a simple but excellent menu. You pick your type of Beef and you pick your type of noodle. You can go for the curry option but it’s not as good as the standard Beef Brisket with Noodle in Soup. Stick to this dish: 10/10 - 上湯牛腩粗麵/ Beef Brisket with Cumain Noodles A small bowl for the price but it’s worth it for the brisket. Thin strips of tender beef wrapped in a flavoursome fatty coating it 10/10. You can choose between vermicelli, flat noodles or a thicker style. I’d recommend going for the 粗麵 ‘Cumian’ - it’s a Hong Kong style flat noodle. It adds a little chewiness to the melt in your mouth beef. It’s definitely the best 粗麵 I’ve had in any cart noodle shop. 8/10 - 咖喱牛筋腩河粉/ Beef Brisket with Rice Noodle in Curry A very average Hong Kong style curry soup. Normally you get the concentrated curry flavour finished with a thicker coconut milk. This one is a little too watery and lacking in any kind of concentrated punch. The beef brisket and tendon is excellent but you could just get that in a normal soup dish. The tendon is 9/10 - very thin pieces soft and slowly cooked past the point of chewy and into glutinous. If you like tendon but have been put off by some places with pieces that are very thick, chewy and almost crunchy then this is a great place to start.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm. Was hoping that there wouldn’t be much of a line, but was wrong! Still, the wait was not that long, as the restaurants moves its diners in and out pretty quickly. Highly recommend the beef brisket noodles. The beef was so tender and flavorful. We paired it with e-fu noodles, but you can choose other styles as you prefer (e.g., flat rice noodles, egg noodles). While the regular beef brisket noodles are excellent, I think their real signature dish is their curry beef brisket and tendon. The curry soup has a really good depth of flavor and mouthfeel. The beef and tendons have obviously been soaking in the curry soup for a long time, as they’ve taken on the flavor. EXCELLENT bowl of noodles. Service is as brusk as you would expect for this type of local establishment. Meaning, don’t expect warmth from the staff. But the food nevertheless comes out very fast. I always find myself coming back here whenever we have out-of-town guests, as Kau Kee’s noodle soups are IMHO really iconic and represents Hong Kong well.

The noodles here are freaking bomb!! I can't believe that I only tried this place recently and not the prior trips I've taken to HK. This place was recommended by family members and friend so I had to come and wait in that line to try for myself. I came here on a week night and waited about 20 minutes, which isn't that had. However, given HK's humidity, it felt 20 minutes too long. Upon being seated, I ordered their beef tendon in e-fu noodles with curry broth (#14). Pictures don't do you justice but it's literally an orgasm in your mouth. The beef is so tender and juicy, unlike certain places where it takes you over 10 chews before you can even swallow. The types of noodles they use is an interesting combination because I've never had e-fu noodles with beef tendon, especially in a curry broth. For about $55HKD (~$7USD), it's worth your money and time. The bowl is small compared to what you think in pictures but that gives you room to try other dishes either here or at restaurants nearby. Give this place a shot and you will not be disappointed!

Se ordered brisket flat noodles and curry noodles for $55 per bowl. And the size of the bowl appeared small but it is enough if you are not hungry. Perhaps like having bowl of Japanese ramen. There some options to get same bowl of noodles for $168 but if think it must be a jumbo size. Think it's better to go for the smaller bowls options and taste different styles of noodles. They serve two kind of variation of brisket soup bas and curry base. We tried both and both were delicious! The texture of slow and low cooked beef in curry was excellent. And the brisket was so tender and it almost melts in your mouth. Add some vinaegar in the brisket soup and it will lift the soup a notch. The soup tend to be a bit too fatty. It's like a whole in the wall place and they only accept cash for payment. Further down the road we diacovered a ramen place that got recommended in Guide Micheline for four year in a row. Going there to have some ramen too. Hehe. Ah, the noodles are places at the bottom of the bowl so need to dig it up!

Whoever gave this less than 4 stars is either super slow at ordering and didn't know what to order, thought that this was fine dining customer service or expected something revolutionary. This is nothing short of an authentic Chinese eatery where they serve you as quickly as possible, you eat and you get out, don't expect to have a full conversation with your friends. The food is reasonably priced around $70HK dollars and it'll get you a thick and juicy bowl of brisket noodles. The brisket melts all its flavour in your mouth like candle wax, if you get the tendon expect to look younger too after the meal. The special signature broth is super beefy and the curry bowl is nicely spicy with a strong curry flavour. You must try both, each bowl is small enough so you can eat two if you're a real man. This is definitely worth the hype, if there is a line it moves fast, only waited 10 minutes with a line starting from the stairs.

This is a really famous restaurant. The first time I came to HK I wanted to check it out, but there was really long line so I decided to go to a different place that day. One night after work, I wanted to eat something and went to Sushi Kado, but I couldn't get a seat. Next I went to Ronin, but it was a full house as well. I was walking back to my hotel when I came across Kau Kee restaurant and I was able to get a seat! I ordered the noodles, a classic on the menu. The meat was really tender and juicy but the soup broth was just ok. The noodles weren't really my taste either. I was still a bit hungry and I was subconsciously staring at the curry noodles the person next to me was eating. He kindly offered me a bite of the curry noodles. This was really good! Just the right amount of spice. I ordered the curry noodles for take out and ate it in my hotel. It may be hard to get in but if you have the chance, I highly recommend!
