IG: eatgosee This is a popular dim sum breakfast place is filled with a mixture of locals and Westerners. We came here very early in the morning for a few breakfast dim sum items but get here early because it fills up - a reassuring sign! This dim sum is not breaking any new innovative ground; it’s not modern and the presentation is utilitarian. That said there is a nod towards the classics as well as some more local options. There is a clear simplicity and homely feel about the food here shying away from complexity and just leaning into the staples. While this may not be the best dim sum that you’ll ever have, it may be some of the most comforting and in that we should perhaps look no further. The more memorable items included the turnip cake which was fatty, firm with a strong pork flavour. My standout favourite was the glutinous sticky Lotus rice: it’s one of my favourite dishes in any dim sum restaurant and this one did not fail. I would come back here for this one alone. The gloriously large shiitake mushrooms that reveal themselves like a prize toy in a kids cereal box. The salty lap cheong sausage, the subtle lotus tea-like flavour that seeps into the rice make this a very complete and enjoyable dish. If you have never had the sticky lotus rice dish before this is an excellent place to start. The crunchy garlic cheung feng was coated in a soft rice noodle that collapsed into a crunchy pungent garlic dim sum underlayer. This varying texture made it one of the more interesting dishes coupled with the unapologetically garlic driving through. The barbecue pork char sui buns are pillowy soft; my only request is the buns were more generously filled with the signature smoky but sweet barbecue meat. The shrimp shu mai steamed dumplings are plump, sweet and moorish.
Would I come back here again? Yes I would. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere; the sticky lotus rice is very good, there is a restraint about the food and the decor that I enjoy. Again, this is not fancy and it’s not refined but it’s an...

Dim sum is prepared fresh and served quickly. During a recent visit we enjoyed our crispy pork buns, bbq pork rice rolls and glutinous rice w/ assorted meats in lotus leaf. Everything tasted pretty good, worthy of return visits and repeat ordering. Our meal lasted around 20 minutes and we were on our way!
Overall, we like the Dim Sum Square, it is a good, tourist friendly place to enjoy this Cantonese speciality food during visits...

Saturday evening around 1830, doing steady business and more or less full but no waiting for a table ... expect to queue at this time once/if protests settle down. Most other restaurants in this small restaurant prolific area appear to be struggling. Usual Western tourist order, various steamed dumplings, spring rolls, steamed veg', glutinous rice with meat in lotus leaf and a plate of veg' fried noodles ... mostly all good, glutinous rice v good, noodles a 'first time', rather bland, wouldn't do again. $HKD203.00 all up includes $HKD8.00 'service charge' (for 2) which includes 2 (mandatory?) cups of ?? tea. No serviettes supplied ... understand a charge applies (we took a few sheets of paper kitchen towel as finger wipes). Prompt and pleasant service, clean and tidy. Worth 'a go' if you're in the area and looking for cheap, tasty,...
