Top 3 foods to eat in HK 🇭🇰 ⇨Roast Goose- from Yat Lok or Kam’s Roast Goose, both are good! If you have time, I would suggest eating at both (cash only, fast service, barely any english workers)🍗🍜🍚 ⇨Dim Sum- There’s so many great dim sum spots in HK, the one we tried was called One Dim Sum. Everything we ordered here was delicious!! Not a single bad item!! (cash only, sit down, english workers and menu)🥟🥢🥡 ⇨Cha Chaan Teng (HK style Café) - When in HK, you have to dine at one for the experience! They have a variety of items such as macaroni soup, noodles, baos, egg tarts, scramble eggs, and hk milk tea! To be honest, the food is average but can’t complain cause its comfort food at a very low price!🫖🍳 • • • • • #hk #hkfoodie #hkfood #hongkongfood #hongkongfoodie #hongkongmusteat #hongkongtrip #hongkong2023 #hkfoodblogger #hkfoodporn #hkfoodshare #hkfoodielife #wheretoeathk #traveltohongkong #hkfoodblog

Came here for dinner close to 7 pm on a Tuesday during my HK trip (and later on, in the early afternoon on a Sunday). I'd recommend coming on a weekday due to the crowd on a weekend. This is by far hands down the best goose rice I've eaten thus far. The skin is crispy, and the goose meat is tender. It has the right amount of savoury to it, and is simple. For those who are overwhelmed by the many different options, I would suggest just getting the Roasted Goose Rice (D1) for tasting it, or Goose Noodles with Soup (D6) if you'd like something soupy, but this means your crispy goose skin will get soaked in the soup, though it'll add flavour to it. Don't bother getting the dry noodles if you're a big eater - it's definitely not enough to make you feel full. Had lemon honey here as well, and it was good because their metal cup is insulated, so it keeps the drink hot while you're enjoying your food. Seating is with strangers, and it's quite a fast turnover as well. The staff might be straightforward though, which is normal! Overall would recommend this a lot!

Popular Michelin guide restaurant. Very small and cramped area, floor is greasy, tables are so close to each other and you’re expected to share the table with others. Welcome to Hong Kong. We ordered one whole roast goose to share among 6, and some roasted meat, char siew. Food is great but the pork is on the salty side. However the staff are very brisk. They don’t chase you out directly, but they eye you like a hawk and see that once you finished that last grain of rice or that last sip of drink, swift hands will come in to clear your plates and they hint to you to make payment at the cashier. Long queue of people waiting outside. The most disappointing is that the supposedly “vacuum packed” goose which is airplane friendly, it was just put in a box. I was shocked when I opened it up at home. Wrapped with some layers of paper, 3 plastic bags and then put into the box. I paid HK$50 for the vacuum pack service and this is the standard that I got. Those who wish to take it home, beware. Luckily didn’t get stopped at customs.

Saw some bad reviews, although thought we would still try it since its on the Michelin guide, but in my opinion it does not deserve to be on it. Ordered the roast goose with bbq pork and roast goose with roast pork as well. To begin with the roast pork was good (and hot) but the goose was just skin and bones and it was as if we got all the left over bits as locals across from us had very meaty bits. We were still hungry and thought we would order more roast pork as it wasn’t too bad. When the small plate of roast pork arrived, it was cold and looked very dry. My wife who speaks cantonese asked them to change it for a new plate as it was cold. The first worker acknowledged her but did not do anything about it. My wife had to ask her three times before the worker said “Don’t ask me.” My wife then asked the male worker who brought it out to which he said “It is meant to be cold.” The male worker and another female worker who walked over began to argue saying “You are wrong, it is always cold.” My wife said “No its not, because it was hot on our plate before,” to which the male worker said before “No you didn’t, you had the goose.” They continued to try bully my wife until she could not be bothered to continued arguing. I am appauled with the level of service at the end and no workers should be treating their customers like that, especially a place that is on the Michelin guide. If reviewers are wanting great roast goose, go to “Yung’s Roast Goose Restaurant” in Yau Ma Tei, as their quality of food and service was great. For the same price we also got much more food. Sorry for the essay but I cannot accept this service, hope this helps people decide where to go.

I have been to this place a couple of times the past few years wonder why I have never reviewed this place before. This time was the worst time to visit because I have hardly seen queues outside the restaurant like that. If you want to skip those queues the best time to visit is probably like 3-4pm and the place would be quite empty and you can walk in and get a table immediately. However it could be quite easy if you are there during peak hours in a small group like 1-2 persons. The turnaround is quite fast small groups can probably get a seat within 20 minutes even with long queues. I was there alone and I managed to get a table within 5 minutes even though I was thinking initially I might have to wait for an hour. The moment I sat down I already knew what I wanted to order and so I placed my order quickly. Its common that if you take your time deciding in what you want to eat, the staff will keep coming back to haunt you and also get frustrated. Service is not at its best but please understand they are trying to be efficient to get the turnaround quick. I ordered the goose, chicken and the char siew. Though I wanted the goose drumstick initially they told me it wasn't available but 10 minutes later a couple sat beside me and ordered and got the drumstick. I loved the tenderness and the flavours of the meat, in order of the char siew, goose then the chicken. The meal was overall okay but if you ask me there are better places elsewhere. It was a hassle free experience if you ask me, enter, order quick, eat and go. Food is decent I think it's probably worth more than a 3 like a 3.5 but not to the extent of a 4.

Visited Yat Lok, one of HK’s Michelin Guide restaurants, for dinner when I was in HK earlier this year. The first time I visited, I tried the Roasted Goose with Rice (HKD67). The second time I visited, me and my friends shared the Half Roast Goose (340HKD) and each had a bowl of Egg Noodle in Soup (19HKD). Food: - Goose skin was crispy while the meat was tender. My only gripe about eating goose is that it is served with bones, and oftentimes there was more bones than goose meat - The sauce drizzled over both the goose and the plain rice was fairly sweet and went well with the herbal-tasting goose - Plain rice was soft and fluffy, a perfect complement to the stronger goose meat flavours - The half roast goose came with sour plum sauce. I’ve always liked the blend of sweet, sour and salty flavours and this was no exception - That being said, my interest in the dish fell as the dish got heavier and heavier for me. It’s clearly not something I would eat too much of - The egg noodles in soup was satisfactory but didn’t particularly stand out to me Service / Atmosphere: - Staff were visibly impatient and were trying to hurry us along on both visits. If you’re someone who eats slowly or wants to enjoy your food then this place isn’t for you - Other than that, service was fairly alright and food was served within minutes This place is really not worth the money – it’s a tourist trap. You’ll be better off going to other roast goose places or just skipping goose completely. Not coming back again for sure.
