Review of Aroma Restaurant

I am disappointed to say that my most recent experience with Aroma Restaurant has completely changed my opinion of the establishment. On August 25th, 2024, I placed an order and was met with unprofessional and disrespectful treatment from the staff.

I usually pay $500 even for orders under $300, and I've never had payment issues with the delivery boy. I didn't ask for change this one time because I assumed it was fine. After receiving the payment details Whatsapp, the owner called me an hour later, accusing me of not paying. I was shocked by his rudeness and lack of trust but apologized on my behalf for the delay as I got pre-occupied. Despite making the payment immediately after his rude call, he continued with his accusations and derogatory remarks.

When the owner contacted me about the outstanding payment, the language used was, in my opinion, absurd and inappropriate. Suggesting that I was trying to get a free meal was highly offensive and completely unwarranted. As I explained in my previous messages, I had guests over at my home, which caused a slight delay in making the payment right away.

I had been a regular customer of Aroma Restaurant and had recommended their services to many of my friends and family. I expected much better treatment, especially from the owner. A simple, kind reminder about the outstanding payment would have been a more professional approach.

Instead, I was left feeling disrespected and undervalued as a customer. This incident has led me to the unfortunate decision of no longer patronizing their establishment. I had entrusted their restaurant with my patronage, but this experience has completely shattered that trust.

I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and review the customer service practices within their organization. Treating customers with respect and understanding should be a top priority, regardless of the situation. This restaurant received halal certification recently. In case you see some doubtful or seemingly non-halal ingredients in the older menu, rest assured that they have made the changes to make the whole menu halal. During our visit there, I took pictures of the updated menu and am sharing them with my review.

We usually request home delivery, which is free for the tung chung area. And given that there are very very few halal/Muslim friendly restaurants here, this service is hugely appreciated.

This week, we decided to go there for dinner. This place has a nice interior and good service. We ordered Samosas as an appetizer, followed by a Mac and cheese burger, with fries and a large 16" Peri Peri Pizza. BTW don't forget to ask them for their sauces, 1. mayo, and 2. the spicy one.

We loved their pizza when delivered at home, but having a chance to eat it fresh out of the oven just levelled up the taste and overall experience. Their samosas were good. The burger patty was tender and juicy. And the burger was very tasty overall.

Recommendation: If you love spicy food, go for their Peri Peri Pizza. All their pizzas are great, in fact they have the best halal pizza I've had in Hong Kong. I've been here for the last 5 years and tried almost all of the halal pizza places.

As someone with dietary restrictions, I was honestly struggling to find good halal food in Hong Kong until I discovered Aroma. From my very first order, I knew I’d found something special. The food is full of authentic desi flavor that reminded me of home. Over the last 5 days, I kept ordering from them and every meal was consistently delicious. Specially their Chicken Biriyani and Chicken Tiklka Wrap was very delicious.

What truly stood out was their service is warm, kind, and thoughtful. Today, as I mentioned I was leaving tomorrow, they even sent me a sweet treat with my final order. Such a lovely gesture!
